Worried ....again!

posted 12th May
I am 38 weeks preggo and I went to my obgyn 2 days ago and he told me that my uterus is posterior and never mentioned if I had chages on my cervix or if I am dilating or something. He said that if labor doesnt start he will broke my waters on wednesday 15. I had 4 previous pregnancies so I think I am supposed to have some change on my cervix or any dilation already but he never said something and I had lots of brxton hicks during the weekend but never had the bloody show just the regular secretions and just a little bit of mocus without any trace of blood. Another thing, I never had the strep b test done and I have an UTI (taking ampicillin) So I dont know if I will be able to have my baby or will be better to have a c-section....Should I be worried? Is possible to have a baby vaginally having an UTI?

Yes it is possible to have a baby vaginally with a UTI I did with my first. I'm so sorry I know your pain. I would fight your doctor breaking your water before 4 centimeters there is a huge risk for infection then you would be forced to have a C-section. I guess I don't understand why he's trying to get the baby out if your not overdue?

im pretty sure it'd be okay b/c a UTI is jus' ur urinary tract like where your pee comes out and not your actual vagina opening the baby comes out of.

sounds like a planned c-section would be best good luck

I don't understand why he would break your water if you aren't overdue either. Also, the doc told me that it is normal for your cervix to be posterior before you are ready to give birth. When your body is ready the cervix moves forward some to help with labor. My first baby was a c-section but I'm trying this time for a vaginal birth. That is a personal choice that you will have to make.

You should be fine as far as the UTI goes.

I'm sure they did the GBS test already as they do it between 35- 37 weeks. I didn't know the results until I asked for them. (Maybe that was just because I was Neg.)

Why does your doctor want to break your water so soon? Your not over due yet.... IMO its like he is setting you up for a c-section. I had a c-section and had no trouble at all.. the recovery wasn't bad. I labored for along time then had the c-section.

P.S. a c-setion doesn't aviod the chances of passing group b strep to the baby. that is, if you have it.

I was surprised too...He nevr said why he wants to induce me and belive worries me not knowing if I am aready dilated or not and after all, finish my labor with a c-section ....after four babies delivered vaginally a c-section because of this....I am just kinda lost!

You didn't ask your doctor any questions?

I'm not sure I would let my doctor just break my water without talking to me first...... I know he is a medical professional, but its my body and I would need somethings answered first.
