thanks, my daughter will eat fruit everyday...she doesnt like veggies or much else though so we struggle with anything that isnt sweet.   i dont want my child to turn into a junk food a-holic lol cuz everything she eats is sweet...if its not sweet then she has a hard time with it. i do not give her junk food though...but she cant exactly like off bananas forever right?

hmmm...thanks! i'll be sure to ask my doctor next time i bring my daughter in for her check up.

another question for you guys, my daughters bedtime routine includes a bottle of formula right before sleep...now she is getting old enough that i should start wondering if i should be giving her a snack before bed (like a muffin, or something??) instead of a whole bottle? The bottle fills her up and she sleeps almost 12 hours every night. I do NOT put her to bed with the bottle, but she gets it right before i put her to bed. When should I start with more solids than formula?

That's all very commom. Just keep offering her a well rounded diet! She will get what she needs! I wouldn't stress over it. Talk to your doctor about it if you feel concerned though! But, most kids go through this!

You can still give her a bottle at night if you want. Even until they turn 2 they need 24 ounces of milk a day. I would suggest milk/formula with every meal and then before she goes to bed. You can still give her a little snack too if she want it though.

That's entirely up to you. How much formula does she drink during the day? If she is getting around 24 oz with what she drinks at and between meal times, then the bottle before bed isn't needed. As she is getting closer to 1 year it becomes more of a comforting thing that fulfills a place in her routine.

On a side not, I thought I would share that my son (who will be 3 in Aug) LOVED anything sweet at your daughter's age. Once we started finger foods he would rarely tough a veggie or meat. We fought with him for a while, but our pedi told us just to keep serving it to him and that eventually he would eat it. It took well over a year, but now, he would rather eat meat and veggies than fruit or most things sweet. So, have no fear, they do balance themselves out at some point. Unfortunately, it isn't on the timetable we want! lol

I would stick with the bottle before bed, since she is sleeping through the night, unless you want to go back to battling sleep. a muffin would not have the same nutritional value as a botttle...

That's why I'm BF until 2, and why they have the formula that is for 9-24 month olds, so they still get good nutrition during the picky eating stage. I think it would be better than pedillite,

My sister has the same problem with her daughter. She will only eat fruit and yogurt and sweet stuff. She doesn't like vegetables. So she had to stop giving her yogurt and fruit for like a week until she started eating other things.

No... You dont' have to take her off formula at 12 months, most do, because Milk is cheaper, and they CAN have milk at 12 months but don't have to... and they have a next step.. http://www.enfamil.com/app/iwp/Content4NoBlurb.do?dm=enf&id=/Consumer_Home/Products/Family_of_Formulas/Enfamil_NEXT_STEP_LIPIL

Yeah, I would talk to your pedi before using pediasure. It really is a last resort for kids that aren't gaining weight properly. You want your daughter to learn to eat healthy, I think pediasure would hinder that. I think a Next Step formula would fine though if you want to do that instead of whole milk. I used it with my oldest for a few months after her first birthday when I was transitioning to whole milk.
