5 Month old eating habits...

My friend was asking me today if I thought her baby was eating too much.... Her baby was born 2 months early and is currently 5 months old. She weighs 15lbs and eats 8oz of formula every 3 hours...she is fussy after about three hours of no bottle and until she gives her more, then she is content..I have always thought baby's will eat what they need...wanted to know more opinions... Thank you!

Sounds normal.

My son was the same way at 5 months. I mean he weighed more but drank the same amount with the same time in between.

my daughter was 2 months early and is now 7 months old and 5 months corrected she takes 6 oz bottles every 3 hours and has been eating food since she was 4 months old she just cant get full she is 17 1/2lbs and she is fussy as well till she gets a bottle but she is very healthy maybe have her try some cereal you can start that at 4 months maybe that would help good luck

My dd was ten pounds at birth and eats eight ounce bottles every three hours or so plus solids twice a day fruit at lunch time and veggie at dinner time shes four and a half months old

Sounds normal to me.

I think that's about right it sounds like the baby is hungry for more. I also think that baby's will eat what they need, which is why I like demand feeding and plan to demand feed my baby.

Sounds normal. If she seems to be hungry more often or not as satisfied, she could check her for signs of readiness to begin trying solids. It doesn't seem like she wold be since she was premature, but she is the same size as my niece who was a 39 weeker and is 5 months.

Sounds normal to me my 5 month old is 16 lbs and eat 6-7 ounces every feeding which is 3 hours. If we have a lazy day she practically stays on the boob all day lol

separate question: when you guys say "every three hours", do you mean start time to start time? finish time of one to start of the next?

From the start of the first to the next one is what I do  

I was always told to control the quality they will control the quanity! They know when they have had enough.

Thank you all! We were curious...... My babies were totally different and were breastfed....

My son was eating 1st foods PLUS drinking that much milk...he was a big kiddo.
