Fetal movement..

posted 15th Jul '12
I was doing kick counts and it took about 5 hours to get 10 small movements and other than that she hasn't really moved much. Should I call the doctor? I'm 39w1d.

They usually slow down at the end. Not much room to move. Baby is probably getting ready for his/her arrival.

Call L&D and tell them whats going on, I'm about 100% sure they'll tell you to get your butt in there.

depends..what were you doing in those 5 hours? You could've missed movements. Go and drink some chocolate milk or something that makes your baby move, then go lay down for an hour with NO distractions - no books, no tv, no nothing. THEN count kicks. If you don't get an amount you like THEN call L&D.

I haven't been feeling DS as much lately either.. It makes me kind of worried.. But I still feel him every now and then. I told the doctor about it Friday, and he told me not to worry as long as I still feel him.. He said that he is just running out of room, and/or being lazy preparing for birth. I wouldn't worry too much, but if you are really concerned go ahead on in just to be safe?

I just don't like going up there, because EVERYtime, they hook me to a fetal monitor and leave me for like three hours.. Just to come back and tell me there is absolutely nothing wrong, and to go on home.. It's quite frustrating. Lol.

Do keep in mind that babies do have lazy days.

In those 5 hours I was doing nothing but trying to do kick counts laying on my left side. My baby has her lazy days too but even on her lazy days I can get at least one set of kick counts. I called the on call doctor and she said to go to L&D so now I'm just waiting for a way to get there. I might have to wait another 2 hours til my husband gets home
