Sleeping all night?

posted 15th Jul '12
Soo the long sought after "sleeping through the night" Now the way my pedi explained that in the medical world they say sleeping through the night is if the baby will sleep for six to eight hours with out waking.. Well my LO is five months. Shes come down to one feeding at night. Well this week shes been asking for a bottle right before bed..so i give her a small one (She normaly takes six to eight oz) right before bed i give her four oz (because not two hours before that she had her rice and veggies) then brush her gums and put her down.. she stays out.. from nine pm to five am.. Wich is great..but this is a recent change ..it used to be she would eat and go down around eight.. and get up at three am for food and diaper and then go back down and get up at five am and be ready to be up to start the day. I guess my question here is (Because im not expecting this sudden change to stick) Do kids grow out of that mid night feeding? OR If this sudden change doesnt stick. (Not expecting it) Will i have to train her/ ween her off that midnight bottle? If so any helpfull suggestions? When would be a good time to start?

Personally, I think you are on the track to her sleeping longer and longer thru the nite.

Zeke started sleeping thru the nite at about 8 weeks...first 6 hours, then 8, then 10, then 12. By three months, he was sleeping 12 to 14 hours a nite. I would say that since she is sleeping 9 to 5 straight, she has moved over the "hump" so to speak and you should be able to expect her to continue sleeping thru, possibly even longer than 8 hours at a time.

Mine is 10 months and still doesn't sleep through the night as well. We've taken away the bottle of formula and replaced it with 2 oz of water to pacify her but we've tried everything and she's still waking up.
