amnio

has anyone had an amniocentesis? and does it hurt? or how bad does it hurt? I'm having one this friday and its causing me a little bit of anxiety.

i had one it wasn't bad but i had it late in my preg at 37 weeks. its no big deal. i wouldn't worry

doesnt it have a risk of miscarrige if you do it early in your pregnancy?

from what the dr told me and what i have read it has about the same amount as risk no matter when you do it. so long as you don't do it before 12 weeks i believe. i do know that the cvs method of doing tests has slightly higher risks and the dr advised not to get that done.

ahh i just wasnt sure thats just what i heard your probably right though =P
but my aunt had it done and about the pain she said it didnt hurt that bad !

no prob... i didn't feel any thing when mine was done and i was not numbed either

i'm scared of needles but that makes me feel a lot better.

don't look at it then, the needle is long like huge long... but the tip is tiny tiny. so you really feel verry little

update: amnio went fine. just some discomfort instead of pain. and nothing wrong with the baby. he/she got very still while the needle was in and after they took it out, it went right back to moving around.
