ttc and a bit nervous....help a sister out :)

posted 12th May
Okay i have an eight year old daughter and a nine month old son. My husband and i have decided to ttc again. We can definatley afford another one, and i feel that i'm emotionally and physically ready.I've been on prenatal vitamins and extra folic acid for a bit now and i feel that we have planned things out pretty well. But for some reason i'm a bit nervous to have a 19 or 20 month old and a new born   We want our last two to be close in age so that's why we are trying now. I know that i can handle it but i'm just a bit nervous and wondering how things will be with two that young. Does anybody have children that close in age? If so, how are you or how did you cope?

My girls are 18 months apart. I'm doing fine. The first couple of months were really hard, but it does get easier. What exactly do you want to know about? I'm pretty open...ask away!

Don't get me wrong, i'm really excited to be ttc again, but just a tad nervous. The good feelings definatley outweigh the nervousness in my case   I am just curious as to what peoples replies will be.

Well i guess i'm a little concerned with the whole " sleep when your new born sleeps" How the heck do you do this with a toddler running around??? I'm the kind that needs a certain amount of sleep to function.

LOL...you don't. sorry! I was sleep deprived forever!!! Or at least it feels like it. The only thing I can suggest is to try and time it so that the toddler takes one of (or their only) nap at the same time you know the baby will go down. Right now, both of my girls are sleeping. They both take a 2 hour nap from 1-3. But that doesn't come until a little later when the baby is old enough to have a schedule, persay.

Uh oh   Lol. I guess it's all about routine eh? Well i guess it'll be a little tough for the first bit, but i'll survive. Thanks for the advice mama!

yeah. like I said, the first couple of months were pretty rough, but I'd say by the time the baby was 4 months old we wre in a pretty set routine. Now they are 10 months and a little over 2 years and it's a piece of cake (at least compared to what it was). You'll just have to adjust. Plus you have an extra set of hands to help you out (your oldest). That's always a good thing!

Well i was kind of figuring that the first little bit would be really hard, so at least i know what to expect there. And yes my eight year old daughter is a big help, along with my wonderful husband. I'm pretty lucky in that department so i think things will be okay, i'm just the type that over thinks things.

Thanks so much! Well if it weren't for anemia, and having only half of a thyroid i probably wouldn't need sleep lol. Unfortunatley these conditions make me crazy tired so i have been stocking up on the iron and such. Thanks for the confidence
