posted 15th Jul '12
hey! my son is 27 months and last night he stayed dry all night and this morning when he woke up i put him on his pot pot and he did use it! he has never stayed dry all night before! previously i tried putting him on the pot pot but he never pee'd nor poo in it. so this is the first time he pee'd in the pot! i was so excited. i praised him.but the thing is my son he repeats everything i say so... when i ask him do he has to pot pot he justy repeats me and doesnt anserw...so i dont know if he will be able to tell me he has to pot pot/ he can talk well but still repets everything i say rather than anserw questions. so... is this a sign that he's ready?!?!

I would keep it going. If he doesn't vocalize his answers well you can start off with leading him to the bathroom instead of asking him if he has to go. Then either direct him towards the potty or just sit him down. When my son was starting I took him to the bathroom every 30 minutes, then slowly moved it up to an hour. By that time he was taking himself.

even children who show certain signs may not be ready.. you just wont know til you try and then if he takes to it great, if not then hes not ready and dont push

I also just recently started potty training my son, he will be 3 in october and up until a month ago he never showed any signs he was ready.. if hes not answering you but will use the pot when you put him on it, then I would just continue to put him on it about every 30 mins or so and gradually move it back to about an hour. My sons been working on this for a month now, and now all i have to do is ask him if he has to go and usually he will at least go in the bathroom and try to go in the potty.. Dont get discouraged if he has an accident once in a while though, he will get the hang of it..

Quoting Dontai's MUMMY!:" hey! my son is 27 months and last night he stayed dry all night and this morning when he woke up i put ... [snip!] ... pot/ he can talk well but still repets everything i say rather than anserw questions. so... is this a sign that he's ready?!?!"
i would just keep puting him on the potty. I would put my son on the potty every 2-3 hours and praise him and i even let him put stickers on his potty. I tried to make it fun and sing to him. I made up potty songs for him.
