6 months is when it is recommended you stary infants - how early was your premie? I know my friend delivered 3 months early, so she goes by adjusted age and at 5 months is not considering starting for at least another 2 months. Have you discussed it with the pedi? I would bring it up at the 6 month check up.

I am sorry my son started solids (cereal) @ 4 months. Jar food @ 6 months. Read that wrong.

My son's dietician told me absolutely not to start him on solids until 6 months. That's when he will be 4 months adjusted. I started my first preemie at 7 months and she did great!

Not until a minimum of 4 months adjusted age, if not 6. Just because they have been born longer, doesnt mean their GI tract is anymore developed, infact it can cause problems feeding preemies too young as the gi tract can take longer to mature in nicu as oppsed to in the womb. They should stop tongue thrusting and be interested in food. I was desperately trying to avoid our lil man having his G tube and thought solids might help seeing as hes nearly 4 months, but was told it was still too soon so it wasnt an option   I think it depends on how early the baby was and what other issues they might have. Milk will still be more important than ever for a preemie.

Hayden is doing well. He's 12 lbs 6 oz and rolling like crazy. We're worried about his hearing though   He doesn't react well to loud noises but LOVES the vacuum and washing machine. In one of the threads posted called gaga twins I said Ethan could be Hayden's twin. I have a binky pic of Hayden that looks just like Ethan

Ha, thats so funny! Ethan had his PT appointment today. I keep meaning to make a post about it, but I'm too lazy =) They said he's doing really well! He doesn't roll too much but he's really close to sitting up on his own. Surprising for me since my daughter didn't sit until 7 1/2 months. She was an early roller though. I got Ethan's weight checked today because he's been eating like seriously every hour to hour and a half!   He weighed 13lbs 7oz though, so I guess it's doing him some good! Will Hayden have any more checks for his development?

He has PT every 2 weeks. They don't seem to be too concerned with him. He LOVES to sit up too. We have a bumbo that he sits in all the time.
