This. I have had two and it can be extremely painful. I mean the surgery doesn't hurt, but the recovery can be horrible. I'm three weeks out of my last and its still miserable. I also have a fairly high pain tolerance.

I was fortunate enough to have a really easy recovery. I was good to go and out shopping 6 days PP from section with nothing but ibuprofen for pain. But even then, I still would have rather had a recovery from a vaginal birth.

Choosing major abdominal surgery to avoid pain just seems to defeat the purpose, no??

My first went great, but my second has been very hard. I'm still just on ibuprofen and Tylenol due to bfing. That might make a difference. My ob prescribed something but im not wanting to take a narcotic. Yes just the risks of a csection make vaginal birth worth it.

Ok hun Im going to be completely honest with you because I am the same way .. I cant handle pain at all .. Im a big ass wuss when it comes to pain now when I had my first child I asked for the epidural and Im not going to lie it was awesome .. but when it was time for me to push I did feel a little bit of it and in honesty the pain does not matter once you see your child .. its no joke when they tell you its all worth it in the end .. once you see their face you forget about the pain ..

Go with the natural way to have the baby in my opinion cause you are going to hurt a lot more after the c section then you will after the natural birth .. if your worried about birth and the pain of it all then get the epi and ask what else your doctors and nurses can do to help you through the pain and help you be comfortable

You know lortabs and percosets are safe while breastfeeding? I was prescribed percs after my c section & lortabs after my gallbladder was removed 7 weeks pp, never took any of them, but they are safe. I hope your recovery starts getting easier!

Quoting MeganBlogna:" Is pain. I can handle pain when it doesn't last for more than 5 minutes tops. So the idea of labor terrifies ... [snip!] ... question here really is, are you actually like completely numb when you get an epidural ? Or are you still in a lot of pain? "

Epidurals don't always work as well as one would like but wanting a CS to avoid the pain of labor is kind of crazy, lol.

When you have a CS you will still have pain......after delivery and for a couple of weeks at least.

You will be in a world of pain after the c-section if you get one. And with the epidural, it really depends. It doesn't work for some people. It worked for me. I didn't feel a thing.

Contractions don't last 5 minutes, so you're in luck! You could handle it.

Just saying.

And I know you don't want to if you don't have to. Just wanted to throw that in there.

By the way--no matter what, there will be pain. You can't avoid pain.

When i got my epidural i couldnt feel a thing. But then I had to go in for a c section. And that is major adominal surgery. And i was in horrible pain for weeks after my surgery, I constantly had to take pain pills just so i could function and i HATE pain pills. If you are terrified of pain like me get an epi. It didnt hurt getting it. Mine felt like a tiny bee sting
