Finding it hard to stick to my plan

posted 14th Jul '12
I did weight watchers found it great and lost 28lbs within three months but was getting fed up with the point counting. Now i've joined a similar type of group but you don't count points. Within two weeks I had lost 6.5lbs and got down to 166lbs i'm 5ft 8/9. Last week I was bad with my diet, still went gym but didn;t really follow the plan and put 1lb on. My weigh in day is Thurday and I've felt so crappy about the 1lb gain, i've lost all motavation and have gone back to eating crap. I have such a sweet tooth. Please some one give me some advice on how to stop the sweet tooth and give me more motivation.

You don't have to get rid of the sweettooth just replace the candy & cakes with fruits. You seem to be doing great! I know it's hard to pick yourself up when your down on diets, but you've come so far, can't give up now!!

Thank you! Can I have as much fruit as I want or still moderate how much I have because of the sugars. I could seriously eat like 3 apples in one day lol.

Slimming world.

You can eat as much meat, fish, veg, fruit, rice, pasta, potatoes, lentails, eggs, certain cereals as you like every thing else has a syn value and your allowed 15 syns a day.

I'm pretty sure you can eat as much as you want. Fruit sugar is good sugar, since it's not artificial.

I'm really not the person to give great advice considering I had been struggling with anorexia for a few years, but I know how you feel. I have a huge sweet tooth too and terrible self control.

What I did: whenever the thought crosses your mind for food....just. Say. No. Keep yourself occupied when you hunger for sweet stuff. The moment you notice a craving for junk, stay as far far far away as possible from the kitchen and do whatever you can to distract yourself, like watch a movie or go out for a bike ride. Or, if you feel hungry, just drink a ton of water. There are chances you might just be thirsty rather than hungry, but you confuse the two cravings. Or if you're really hungry but want to lose the weight, just drink water instead or a propel fitness or something.

These are things you can try, but it really is up to you whether you can do it or not. I just got to the point where I would rather be thin than enjoy a brownie with icecream....and my desire for thin won out. Sometimes, even though I have great ways to stay away from junk food, I'd rather just indulge in sweet foods and forget about how I'd have deal with the feelings of failure and regret later for eating "forbidden" foods.

Another great motivation for me to lose weight and stay away from junk food is to weigh yourself every single morning. It's a really great way to keep you on track, and it is SO motivating to see those numbers go down every day. And a real downer to see the failure of those numbers going up when you've been in the cookie jar the day before.

Another thing....if you feel a craving for sweet food, weigh yourself. Tell yourself you need to stay at the weight you're at, or lower. It might give you a bit more power to see where your weight is at when you crave, and then realize where your weight will be if you indulge.

When you crave junk food, make a picture journal of thin women you aspire to look like. And keep telling yourself you want to look like that. Remember, every time you stay away from that craving, it is one more battle you have won.

Again just remember that these aren't always the healthiest methods to deal with weight loss, but they work IF YOU LET THEM WORK. A lot of it is in your head. Your cravings have no power over you unless you GIVE them power. But the same goes the other way...you lose weight only if you give yourself the power to do it.

There is some good advice here. I think it's a good idea about if I get a craving than to occupy myself with a movie or taking my LO out. Also what would I rather have a nice figure or a chocolate bar? I know for well it's a nice figure lol.
