I'd say a girl name. I love Remi as the nickname. But I guess it would go for a boy too....

My little sister is named 'Rem'i - Rakayia'..Rem'i is actually a unisex name:
Rem'i - girl.
Remi - boy.
Rakayia (ra-kay-yah) means 'a gift from God'..
I like Remington, but if im honest, my little sister gets called that all the time to annoy her..
