people on depo shot . . .

ok so , i was just told last night that some girls on here have gained 30+ pounds within 6 months on the shot .
my doctor told me the side effects from it , headache , fatigue , etc. etc.
and said if i gained weight , it'd be no more then 5 pounds !
well i don't know if she was lying or not so please don't jump to conclusions .
is there different types of depo shots ?

andddd my main question here is , those of you on it who didn't gain much weight . . . how did you manage that ?
i'm thinking about changing my diet up to a lot more healthier and exercising and stuff .

and those of you who did gain weight , how much ? and did you try to prevent it or just snacked a lot and didn't exercise much ?

i gained 40 pounds in 2 MONTHS!! I cant seem to lose it either... no matter how hard i work to get rid of it, i cant... its been three years and i still have the weight.

I don't remember gaining weight on it but it made me CRAZY! And every single person I know who was on it says the same thing. I honestly think it made me bi-polar for the time I was on it.

i gained over 30 lbs while i was on it. it took me getting pregnant and being sick for 6 months straight to lose that weight. though it is convenient to only have to get a shot every 3 months, i wouldnt recommend it to anyone.

I'm not on it now (obviously since I'm pregnant, lol) but I did get it after I had my son almost 8 years ago and the only thing that changed was the fact that I didn't have a period every month. I didn't gain wait. I actually lost weight over the six months I had it and got back down to my pre-pregnancy size without dieting or exercising.

yeah i was crazy too. i think it contributed to my postpartum depression cause as soonas i got off it my PPD magically went away...

wtf man .
even 5 pounds is a lot .
i gained 40 pounds even from pregnancy .
my daughter is 4 1/2 months and i still haven't lost it all .
i was 154 about 1-2 months agoand now i'm 160 .
notethat i was walking a lot then and stopped .
plus , eating pretty bad =/
but i don't wanna gain anymore weight !
my goal was to get back to size 3-5 jeans .
i hope that i can prevent weight gain if i eat right and exercise daily .

and i don't understand why my doctor would intentionally lie to me .
she said the people who did gain weight didn't gain anymore then 5 .
so maybe it's just my doctors office .
i'm due for my second shot in june .
i don't think i wanna get it again .

is there any birth control you ladies are on that didn't gain weight from ?

i had it two times and didnt gain weight at all and i had to switch to something else cause didnt have a apptite at all i would eat at work and then not be hungary the first 3 months i lost ten lbs so its can be diffent for everyone

Some people use depo as an excuse for their weight gain when in reality they just ate a lot.

IUD... i havent had one but a lot of my friends have and they said it has the least side effects of all and it lasts for five years and you dont have to worry about remembering., But, you still get your periods on it!!

wel, with most birth control youre not supposed to gain more than 5 or 10 lbs. i think they all have different effects on different women though. some women didnt even gain weight on the depo, while those that did gained a lot. i guess its really just trial and error. if you get on a certain pill and see the weight gain then change the pill etc. good luck!

I got off of the shot years ago...but let me tell you that thing is EVIL!!!!! I gained 26 lbs in a month and a half, I had my period for six months straight, my skin broke out in horrible HORRIBLE acne, I had ZERO sex drive, and my emotions were like a rollercoaster. After I got off of it it took me 3-4 months minimum before my periods back to normal and my skin got better, and my weight took like 6 months to go away completely.

i lost on depo. then i got pregnant.

well yeah by all the opinions i guess everyones different .

whats IUD ?
a pill or something ?

i think i'm gonna try it for a year and see how things go .
i don't care about periods , just weight gain .

as for getting pregnant on it , i'm using protection every single time so i think my chances of that are slim .
