Are you planning to file for CS?

I was just thinking that there was a certain distance he can go.

Quoting k❤:" I understand that. I do not want my child especially being so young going that far. "

I understand. I've been there. But he does live in a different state, so IF you two ever break up. First things first hash out a custody agreement to protect you both and your child.

Quoting P3RvYmCp3rv:" This!!! Especially if they go to court in IL. in IL the father has no rights even if he is on the BC ... [snip!] ... BC unless a court says so. This includes but is not limited to say in the child's care, visitation, and paying child support. "

Same in Indiana.

Nooopppee not necessarily. I mean with Lo not being born yet they will probably say for x amount of time LO will be with you if breastfeeding but if not for x hours on x days.

OP, this sounds really smurfing smurffy but if you're legit worried about him taking your LO and not give him or her back, don't put him on the BC.

You would think it would be that way but it's not. My best friend is fighting for just visitations and he's a good dad that has been there since day 1.

Not until you get something established in court he can't without your permission.

Here every judge wants to be a choomby-yah ass and assume every dad is fit for joint custody. I wish more states would force judges to do it case by case and not lump everyone in the same category.

In my state whoever has physical custody has all the rights until someone goes to court (if he's on the BC). So essentially, my ex could take my child out of my hands tomorrow and not give her back and it'd be legal. Colorado is a Mother state but two parent state when it comes to custody... it's bullsmurf.

If he is on the birth certificate and you do not have any documents setting rules. He totally can take the child to his place bc its his kid too and cops wont d anything....if this something you are really worried about you need to do something about it.

You have to have a court ordered custody agreement that says he cannot take the child across state lines or they will do nothing about it since he is the father he has just as much right as you do to take the child across state lines. I know this from experience (not me personally but a friend of mine). I found out that my friends son had been taken from where we live in MN to Montana and then ended up in Washington when all was said and done. My friend tried to get the child brought back to MN and charges pressed again the other parent and because they had no custody agreement there was nothing the cops could do about it.

i know here in Indiana when the parent's are not married you and father both have to sign a paper and the mother has sole custody of the child. If the father wants joint custody of the child you have to go to court or you can pay like $500 (I can't remember how much it is) when the baby is born and have a dna test done then they will do joint. So I would say no that he can't with out your permission. Makes sense.
