thanks Darah   & that makes me feel better about my friend's comments, you're right she isn't a mom so I guess she really doesn't know anything about it. & she is the type of person to say whatever is on her mind so she must not mean it in an offensive way... what kind of stuff is Dani not able to do that you've noticed ?

haha that's true, I guess it'd be a lot harder if you had a child first who wasn't autistic or anything, THEN had an autistic kid. okay so you just do the flashcards & start off w/ a small amount, & just take turns repeating the words ?

Its really easy to get frustrated and sad that your kid is having a tough time. We just want to make everything easy to them. Its totally just part of being a mom. He is a crazy smart kid. If he weren't he would be a whole hell of a lot easier LOL. He is tricky and smart. He just doesn't like to listen. But I don't know a 3 year old that does. He is lucky in this fight, he comes into it with a very high intelligence which is going to give him way better chances! He can totally overcome anything. Its just going to take time and hard work

yea definitely. & you're right   if anybody tells me their 3-yr-old is always well behaved, I'm going to assume they're either constantly high or a plain liar

yup! that is what they do at speech therapy, too. Gavin has a hard time naming actual objects because he wants to play with them and then gets stuck on them. Flash cards work because he just likes to stack them after. I say the word and once he says it, he gets the card.

My son just turned 4 and still doesn't say much. Also what he does say only his Dad and I can understand. He does know some sign language though so that helps.

Yeah, she is really blunt.
But IDK I mostly notice the differences when we're at the park or somewhere that there are a lot of other kids her age being physically active. Maybe I just stress myself out too much, IDK. But she isn't that good at climbing and really struggles with climbing around jungle gyms, kicking a ball, can't really jump up and down.. stuff like that. She is also socially awkward and doesn't interact well with children. With M and Rocco it's different because I am friends with you and R, but other kids it's like forget it. She's mean, really shy and just doesn't know how to interact at all.

My son Levi is 41/2 and speaks at a 2 year level. At 3 he was at an 18 month level. So he's progressing some but very slowly. He repeats a lot and knows what the sentences mean, can use them correctly but can't come up with sentences on his own. Well he can do basic ones like "Levi eat" or "Levi play". He doesn't know possessive words like "want" or "mine". He's just starting to grasp the concept of "me" and "I" but still prefers to refer to himself in the 3rd person. He's an expert at individual colors/animals/objects but can't understand when you refer to the as a whole. Example "Levi look at all the plants" and he will look puzzled until I pick out and identify each plant seperatly, like red flower, green leaves, stuff like that. He knows everything I say, can follow detailed instructions but cannot express much at all. He's completely on par in everything else, advanced in others but so far behind verbally. Its so frustrating at times.
