Newborn CIO

In your opinion, is it okay to let a newborn CIO? Why or why not?
If you didn't see a problem with it, and were shown research as to why it is bad, would you continue to do it?
This was sparked by another thread. I'm curious how many people think one way vs. the other.
ETA: Post and run. We have an ultrasound to get to.

No no no. Letting a newborn cry it out is neglect.

I'm against CIO for all ages. So...
Alot of threads I've been in, I've linked research & these mothers who CIO basically IGNORE the research....

I don't think it's okay to let a newborn cio. They have no idea what is going on and if they're crying, it's more than likely because they have a NEED, not just because they feel like screaming.

No way in hell. It spent the last 9 months inside of me being cuddled and fed. It cries for a reason.

Definitely not, and as far as I've noticed on here, very very few people try to defend it.

No no and no, absolutely not okay. They are crying because they need something.

I am for CIO but a newborn is far too young.
They are scared and have no clue what is happening or going on around them. They need the comfort of their mother.

I don't think it is alright for a newborn to CIO.
They are crying for a reason at that age.

I think its terrible to let a newborn CIO unless you're at the point of frustration and you need a minute to gather yourself. I'm all for putting baby in a safe place for a minute while you get it together.
I believe babies learn to trust their parents and want to know that when they need them, they'll be there. CIO in a newborn can develop trust issues between baby and parent.

I don't do CIO for any age, but I don't think anyone should with their newborn. Thing is, when they're newborns there's no way to be for sure what they need and if they're crying they need something.

Not for a newborn no way!

This.
Babies cry for a reason.

No . The only it's "okay" is if you are about to snap and the baby won't stop crying so you just walk away because otherwise you might hurt the babe
