posted 12th May
hi, i just started getting healthier by eating better and started walking about 2 weeks ago. i have already lost one pant size! i am a few weeks pregnant and want to know as long as i am eating healthy and exercising and losing weight; is it ok for my baby? will weight loss hurt it? i just want to be healthy at the same time and not jeopardise the baby.

Random question.

Why do you want to lose weight while pregnant?

I lost over 15 lbs during my first trimester, which is a little much according to my doctor ( I had SEVERE morning sickness), but I was told some weight loss is normal in alot of women. Don't worry unless it gets extreme. You'll gain it back.

You'll naturlly start gaining weight so forget about losing it. They say that you need to gain 25-35 pounds to have a healthy pregnancy. As for the exercising you can still do that just don't over due it. It'll help you keep in shape during you pregnancy.

first i am very over weight and i just happened to start getting "healthy" when i became pregnant. so i figure if i eat right and keep walking i would still lose weight. does that help with the question so it gets answered correctly?

Um. Slow down killer. Your doctor can best tell you how much weight you should gain. You shouldn't try to lose weight on purpose, just keep the gain to a minimum and make sure you eat healthy etc.

to help better understand where i am coming from so you can see why my body would sart dropping weight. i am probably 75 lbs? over weight. like i said i just happened to start getting my body in shape at the same time. no means would i ever try to deny my body for food at this point; just healthy. in everyones view; dont you think i would lose naturally? does that help better explain?

wow. guess you are getting what i am saying. lets say you have a person who is 400lbs. they start to eat right and walk. you are going to have drastic weight loss correct? same thing here. is it ok to lose a lot of weight even though you are very heavy. if not i would have to over eat again. hope that helps.

If you are eating healthy and exercising in moderation, it is ok for your baby. I drastically changed my eating habits after becoming pregnant, no fast food, no soda, candy etc. and I lost about 11 lbs. I never gained it back. My baby didn't suffer. Make sure to be open with your doc about eating habits and what not though.
