to ovulate after you came off birth control? The last time i forgot to fill my prescription.. which was in July of 2007...i found out i was pregnant at the end of that month... (had a miscarriage and got back on birth control) Anyway, I stopped taking my pills last Friday the 2nd... and had the withdrawal bleeding start on Monday the 5th. I am not bleeding anymore... when should i expect to ovulate? would i count the first day of withdrawal bleeding as the first day of my cycle?? i'm confused!

Usually they tell you not to expect to ovulate for a couple of months, But my mom got preggo right away so it could happen for you too. I wasnt TTC but it took me 4mths from the time I stopped until I found out I was preggo with my daughter. And lots of girls get pregnant while they are still on the pill too. It just depends on your body.

I must have ovulated right away-becasue we got preggers the first month. I think for alot of people BC makes you so regular that you are very fertile right away. I mean think about it,why would it take afew months when you can miss one day of pills and end up pregnant?

I got off of my bc in January after my regular period (Jan 2-4, 29 day cycle)..I had withdrawal bleeding from the 14-17. My next period was Feb 11(29 days after withdrawal bleeding). I got pregnant after that. Had my mc the end of March. My 1st period after mc was April 25 (32 days)..I test in 2 weeks.

They say it can take up to 6 months for your body to regulate, so I'm not really sure. My body never did, but that's due to the PCOS.

Be careful though, sometimes if you get pregnant right after getting off BCP it can cause miscarriages. You have to give your body time recover and adjust. That being said I do know women that have gotten pregnant right away and carried healthy babies to term, so it is possible. I'm in this boat now of having to wait 6 months after my surgery to start TTC because I don't want to take the risk. Good luck hon

My dr said mine wasn't due to the bc since I had a normal cycle after my withdrawal bleedingand he said I could start trying because I had a normal period after miscarriage.

Heres an article that may be good info.

Getting Pregnant After Birth Control

How soon can you get pregnant after stopping birth control?

Women tend to spend half their lives trying NOT to get pregnant and then when they decide they are ready, they find out it's not always that easy to conceive. In efforts to prevent pregnancy, women today use oral contraceptives, hormonal patches, condoms, and numerous other birth control methods.
When it comes to hormonal contraceptives, your best bet is to complete your current cycle and then attempt to get pregnant, says Frank A. Chervenak, MD, professor and chairman of the department of obstetrics and gynecology at Weill Medical College of Cornell University in New York City.
"After the cycle, attempts can be made to start getting pregnant although it may be advisable to wait for the first normal menstrual period after you stop taking your pills," he says. But this precaution is not essential. Some women conceive within a week or two after stopping birth control pills.
"I advise women to complete the cycle so they don't have irregular bleeding," he says. In general, the middle of the month is when ovulation and potentially conception are most likely to take place, so the optimal fertile window is a couple of weeks after stopping contraception.
An important point to consider, however, is that "if there has been a previous pregnancy or miscarriage, wait about three months to give the body a chance to recover," he says. "This is where a waiting period makes sense."
As far as other types of contraception, the intrauterine device (IUD) must be removed before a woman starts attempting to conceive, he says. Couples can just stop using condoms when they are ready to conceive, he adds.
