To tuck or not to tuck, that is the question

posted 11th May
Before getting pregnant with my son I was an addict when it came to working out. I took great pride in my body, and felt very comfortable in my skin. I felt great, I looked great (not to sound conceited) and was just overall very happy with my body.

After becoming pregnant I did notice that I started to develop body image issues. I knew with becoming pregnant came gaining weight but for some reason that didn't always click in my mind. When you are so used to looking one way and then start gaining weight and watching your tummy expand it def took its toll on me. I started off my pregnancy at a healthy 110 pounds. By the end I weighed in at a whopping 174 pounds, which is a lot of weight for my height.

I was hell bent and determined to lose all of that weight after I had my son, which I did end up doing but was left with a nice pooch and stretch marks that didnt' become noticeable until after I had my son. I did all sorts of exercises to attempt to rid myself of the pooch but couldn't quite get rid of it entirely.

My newfound post baby body left me very self conscience of the way I looked and made me feel very unsexy. I struggled with even allowing my SO to see me naked after having my son as I just felt gross. I pondered for a long time whether or not having a tummy tuck would ulimately rid me of these insecurities but keep being told that I shouldn't allow myself to think down of my body (easier said than done)

I am now 31 weeks pregnant with my second and last child and the thought of a tummy tuck is weighing in very strongly in my mind. I have been researching and trying to educate myself on the actual procedure so I know beforehand what I might be getting myself into. I simply want to feel comfortable in my own skin, I want to feel sexy and desireable to my SO, even though he tells me all the time I am beautiful the way I am, I just can't help but want to have my old body back.

If you are still reading this, which I apologize for it being so long. I am just looking for opinions from others on this, do you feel that me going forward with my desire of wanting a tummy tuck would help boost self confidence or do you think it won't?

Please no flames for this post as everyone has their own insecurities and some are better able to adjust to their newfound mommy bodies than others.

I would, hell why not! I'm going to after my third and last child. I wanna feel good about myself again and no matter how much I work out it's not going to get rid of the excess skin that goes along with pregnancy.

I so know where you're comming from. I have a larger pooch than when I started and no matter what I do it will not go away and looks kinda like an apron around my waist  . I say if you're done having children go for it!

You look great regardless!! I think that if having a tummy tuck after going through all the work to tone your body etc, is what you want, then go for it! You're not using it as a quick out, so if it'll make you feel better about yourself, I say do it. I would.. lol.

I say if you've tried all you can and nothing worked, go ahead!

My tummy looks like that only a little bigger (I was 238 right before the baby was born, 188 pre pregnancy and 195 to date)

It is def. something that I am considering. Although I am very nervous about going through with it for obvious reasons.

well if you think about it you spend all day taking care of your SO and your son and soon to be daughter also, making them happy is probably your life, so why not make yourself happy too... it will make you be able to enjoy life way more...

I say go ahead. I mean if you have tried all the non medical ways and it's notworking how you want it to, then go for it. Pain is temporary. As a matter of fact, I plan on getting breast implants after we are done having children. I am an A cup when I'm not pregnant, so I'm sure after Carson's here and i'm done breastfeeding, they will shrivel up to nothing again.

I was looking up tummy tucks on youtube, some aren't that bad, but there are some that make me scared lol.

For anyone that knows the answer to this, do they use your old belly button as the new one or do they in some way rescultp you a new one?

WOO HOO! go for it! They say it's one of the most painful of all the tuck surgeries, and you have to follow a diet and exercise regimen at the beginning (like first couple of months) but that doesn't seem to hard for you  . Totally understandable. just make sure your SO takes care of your kids after you have it cuz you won't be able to do too much for a while

My mom too has lost a great deal of weight and wants to get one, wonder if we could go together. What a wonderful mother/daughter bonding moment hahaha.

I think the cut a hole around your belly button leaving in intact and then pull the skin down and cut a new hole to fit the belly button in. Your belly button is the same and in the same spot but the skin around it is new.
