he got a settlement (vent)

Here I am 6 months pregnant, dealing with BD claiming that the baby isn't his even though in the beginning of this pregnancy he was picking out names and rubbing my belly and talking to it like a happy go lucky first time dad.

Now I am living on my own struggling to make ends meet, taking care of my 4 year old, and rushing to get everything I need before the baby gets here by myself.

I have no problem doing it myself necessarily, but when I have to hear all over facebook about how he just went down to the city yesterday to pick up his 200 grand settlement that he won I get a bit upset.

Now he gets to live easy & I get to stress myself out all by myself. I hate that he, a selfish little boy and a mean hearted individual, gets such blessings. Grant it, I have been blessed in other way's, but 200 grand would have been nice. Shoot 2 grand would have been just as nice.

& the worst part is, I know come November when I take him to court for custody & child support, there wont be a dime left.

I don't think a settlement would matter for child support anyway. As far as I know, child support goes solely on earned income. I could be wrong, but I know in my case, they said if BD won the lottery or got any lawsuit settlements, none of that comes to me unless he offers it.
He'll still have to pay CS though. Settlement or not.

I would ask him for some lol. He may be willing to give some now that he has it.

im more or less upset that he doesnt have to stress himself period over the whole situation & is going to blow his money instead of being wise and putting some aside for the baby.

Yup. Like when my LO's dad was given a smurfing Bentley as a gift from a friend... I couldn't use that in court in any way. Its solely off earned income.

I agree. It's pretty smurffy. Guys just have the luxury (in most cases) of not caring, especially before the baby is here.

I hate that they can just walk away like that. Not that I would want to walk away, but just that they don't carry the baby they dont have to do anything period. until its court ordered.

I understand! You have to stress while he lives it up.. while he could be putting a couple grand away for his unborn child. But, instead he's going to blow it all and he'll justify his actions by saying the baby isn't his. UNTIL, you prove it! I'm sorry your going through this. Unfortunately, alot of people go through Babydaddy drama.

exactly. & the funny thing is HE KNOWS its his baby. But he will continue to refuse to do anything until he has to get a mandatory DNA test.

I wish i could slap the sense into him.

It isn't income. Don't know what the settlement is for, but it is meant to compensate for some kind of loss. So unless he sends some to you it doesn't matter.

right, yeah i know that, i am just saying that it is so sad how he just got 200 grand and I know not a penny of that is going to go to the baby. & by the time he finds out that the baby is in fact his all that money is going to be gone anyway.

He got hit by a drunk driver, she broke his leg, & took off. His friends got her license plate number and he sued. He works off the books other wise so I know he wont have to pay much because of that, it would have just been nice for him to help out now & prepare. But instead he is going to be a child & blow his money on him while i bust my ass to save & prepare for her.
