Mirena Side Effects

Did you have any? Is the only fix having it removed?

I've had a constant headache for weeks now. It never really crossed my mind it could be my iud. Looked on their website it says to seek immediate medical attention if you have severe or persistent headaches/migraine. I'm waiting for my husband to get home then going to the ER. We don't have an urgent care here, my OB is an hour away and I have no insurance.

I am just curious what happens now and if you had any.

I have had mine for 12 weeks and Im still bleeding and crampy all the time and sex hurts IT SUCKS! hubby is getting a vesectimy and I can not wait to get this stupid thing out!!!!

How long have you had it?
I had severe depression and anxiety with it as well as ovarian cysts which gave me nasty cramps and it made me drop alot of weight. After it was removed I felt loads better and all my symptoms went away.

hmmm I have been trying to eat better an I have lost 12lbs in less than 2 months... I wonder if its b/c of the IUD

I dropped 20 lbs which put me at a really unhealthy weight and my boobs vanished lol. I've heard mixed reviews, some people say they gained weight and others lost.

9 weeks. I also have no energy, I'm an utter bitch now. And I'm gaining weight even with working out and eating right.

I loved not having to worry about a pill and my periods stopped all together but it just wasn't worth it to me. My body doesn't handle hormonal BC that well.

I had it before I got pregnant I had it for about 2 months. I had the worst cramps I could ever imagine and some times worse then labor.. the sex especially sucked my husband hated it... I bleed all the time. so one day I went to the doctor and said enough is enough went to have it removed and it had moved up and was pretty much inbeded in my abdomen had to have surgery to have removed... never again.

I had severe cramping and heavy bleeding on and off during the first three months. Since last August I went from 136 to 144 without changes in my diet or exercise.

I'm getting mine taken out on the 23rd. I've been doing some research on the hormone in Mirena, I found a gov website that says the following: "Levonorgestrel should not be used to prevent pregnancy on a regular basis. This medication is to be used as an emergency contraceptive or backup in case regular birth control fails or is used incorrectly."

I also researched the side effects:

All medicines may cause side effects, but many people have no, or minor, side effects. Check with your doctor if any of these most COMMON side effects persist or become bothersome when using Levonorgestrel/Ethinyl Estradiol:

Acne; breast tenderness or enlargement; changes in appetite; changes in weight; dizziness; headache; loss of scalp hair; nausea; nervousness; stomach cramps or bloating; vaginal spotting or breakthrough bleeding; vomiting.
