wtf are the government playing at i found out yesterday when i went to withdraw money for some birthday presents for tilleigh that they have cut nearly half my child tax and all of my working tax , i was not impressed so decided i was going to ring them today to find out what going on.
i just dont know what to do now, im stuck and im sure im not the only one out there they have screwed over, all they said when i rang up was that was all im entitled to, i wouldnt mind but we are earning the same amount of money that we did this time last year the only difference is i now have an extra child, which i informed them of as soon as he was born so in theory i should be entitled to more not less so thank you very much you twats i can longer afford anything, we get our selves sorted so were comfortable and now we are back to living on a benefit budget i just told them that my husbands gonna quit his job and go on benefits as we will be better off
the whole country should boycott work for a day, see what smurf that leaves the government in then, mass strike bring it on lol, i know it wont achieve anything and probably wont help matters but it would get the message across that we are all pissed off because now ive got to make a choice my daughter or my husband because of this, its either him work 6 days a week 12 hours shifts and i never see him which will lead to a divorce as were going through a rough patch as it is ( hes upstairs now packing his suitcase because ive said we need to re budget so a luxury or two has to go, which has lead to an argument) or my daughter doesnt get her birthday party, its not fair   x

Money is not responsible for your relationship problems, sorry.

Everyone I know is having a rough money time, everyone is having to cut back luxuries, just as you are.

Doesn't mean you have to choose between your daughter and your husband, unless you're letting lack of extras run your life.

Missed the point, dear.

I wish we got random free money here for having kids. But, I'd probably be upset if there were a huge unexpected change to my finances no matter what the cause.

"deserve"..
"entitled".....

WOW. Maybe I'm just confused, but are you talking about welfare checks? I seriously have no problem with welfare. But you are talking about your SO quitting work just because you would receive a bigger check living off of the government. IDK how it works in the U.K. though.
Maybe I'm reading this wrong.

Well, she is entitled to it, after all.

Op. I'm sorry you're having a rough go of it. Most people are. Buckle down an make a new budget. Find some things you can go without.

You aren't entitled to anything you haven't worked for.

Hmm. Okay...

I mean. I understand being upset about money that you thought you had that you don't. But... I guess I don't understand the rest of your vent, then.

"husbands gonna quit his job and go on benefits."

That doesn't make sense... maybe you both need jobs.

I understand though because here everyone is entitled to a child tax benefit, but it's based on income so some people don't get it because they make too much. I would definately be in some trouble if the number I got every month changed with no warning.

However, every tax season you're reassessed and the amount changes in July. Did you file taxes different? Did you literally make the same amount of money last year compared to the year before, or are you making slightly more? Every dollar counts to the government.

i got your point and i understand it, its not exactly free money its our taxes we pay in every week from working, i dont see the point of paying extra tax so we claim the tax credits back were loosing paying the tax anyway, the reason i use the word entitled is because its our money in the first place, its been earned, if i put the whole extent of what this country is saying about this situation, i would get a mouthful for being prejudice which i am not

Child tax and working tax or separate. I don't live in the UK but I assume it's similar to here... Child tax is something citizens are entitled to, working tax I assume is like welfare and that is something you are not entitled to imo. You have to earn it and use it while you're trying to get on your feet - not live off it.
