Mirena users...

Does it effect you at all and give you bad side effects?
It gives me horrible cramps and I cannot lose weight on it! I want it out but I have to have it in for 6 months before Im allowed to remove it or I would have to pay to get it removed. Im in such a rut. I think I rather use condoms and lose weight instead of being a fat piggy.

What have you been doing to try to lose weight?

Getting more exercise, just drinking water, and watching my portions.. I haven't lost a pound though. Normally I would have already lost weight.

It was like that for me during the first couple of months. I've had it for almost 3 years & have not had any more issues.

I had it for about 4 months after I gave birth to my daughter in 2009 my body completely rejected it. I had heavy bleeding and weight gain. I went
In to get it checked and it was actually falling out the dr said my body was rejecting it.

It's one of those preference things ... some hate it and swear they will never go there again others liked it .
I had it for 5 years ... it does settle but I did find month after month I swore i was pregnant it mimics the same symptoms. alot of ppl have had trouble conceiving after removal but again its different for everyone .
I will get it again after my son is born I found after 6mths everything settled and was extremely reliable over the years with no bleeding whats so ever each month after six mths . I didn't get weight gain but headaches were sometimes an issue . I have had Implanon & other IUD and of course the pill ( terrible at taking tablets .

I have no weight gain either and no weight loss. It's really annoying.

I've lost 10 pounds since April. I'm 5'8" so it maybe be a little different or not for you. I have to have a minimum of 2000 calories a day (nutritionalist) and weight lift. I almost exclusively eat fresh veg/fruit. Vegetarian type diet has helped. I have gotten energy back and started more muscle builder kind of techniques again. I now am up to 3.5 liters of water RESTING but it is hot right now. I found that taking in only 1000-1300 calories even with exercise kept me fatter! After a monthsof doing something like this you should see changes. It has to be constant moving. I workout out most of the day in some form lol I'm a diabetic with Mirena and losing weight! Glucerna is good for anyone too as a protein shake or meal replacer.

I love mine! I was on a weight loss program for a month & lost about 40 lbs an still had it in place! I get cramps SOMETIMES maybe 3 times in the last 2 years.

I had periodic bleeding for MONTHS. On and off, almost a full year.
I didn't have problems losing weight but I started gainin @ year 2 with it in.
I got pregnant on it.
More cramping.
Mood changes.

Long story short, I HATED MIRENA! And the whole time my husband said he felt it, and I had no idea it was that bad.

We were both happy when it was removed.

Iv been on the mirena for a year now and I have not had any truoble at all.

No cramps
No mood swings
No weight gain (acutally lost weight)
No Period for almost a year (just spotting TMI sorry)
And my husband could not feel it during sex (well, at first he did but now he dosent (again tmi sorry)

I love mine
