How do I get her into a diff habit?

posted 10th Jul '12
Every night my DD usually falls asleep nursing which is fine BUT she feels it is necessary to lay on the boob ALL night. If I put her next to me after she has fallen asleep and no longer on the boob she wakes up crying looking for it. Idk how to get her into a diff habit. I understand her nursing for hunger but she now she has to sleep on the boob all night and well my nipples start feeling raw from it. Any ideas of how I can get her into a diff habit?

Find her a pillow that's as comfortable as boob ;)

My daughter has been doing this for awhile.

I started to push her paci in her mouth while my nipple is in there too, and just pull my nip out. And she'll take the paci fine. She won't fall for that trick lately though. GL

Lol I tried that, she took it for about 5 seconds before she realized it wasn't my nipple hahaha.

Have you tried just letting her CIO? I had to do that twice with Andrea. She'll only whine for about 2 minutes. But I've found it doesn't work if she's in my bed or can see me.

My DS will be 10 months in a week and we are still going through this.   he roots or screams like he's being murdered until I give in and feel like a horrible mother. I'm watching.

I know. He next to never cries, so to let him wail for boobie breaks my heart. I've lasted 3 minutes tops a couple of times, but I've given up. Not sure how/when he is going to be able to sleep by himself.   I kind of want my bed back. And not have to hold him for nap time every day.

I know you said the paci doesnt work but have you tried putting it in her mouth then tapping on it till she starts sucking instead of just putting in her mouth? Tapping helps my daughter take it better. Also maybe try waiting till she is good and asleep before taking your boob away. I know its a pain!

I haven't tapped it but I have tried putting it in her mouth when she was sound asleep and she wakes up like wtf lol. I have also tried taking the boob out of her mouth when she is fully asleep and sometimes she wakes up right away looking for it and other times she may sleep a good 30 min before waking up but when she does she wakes up in a fit looking for it.
