Frustrated with my due date!
posted 10th Jul '12
Nobody can seem to figure out exactly how far along I am! My cycle, my ultrasounds, and what my stomach meassures all say a different date ranging anywhere from August 7th to August 23. This wouldn't be an issue for me if we were having our daughter naturally but, since our son was an Emergency C-section, we're having a C-section with her as well. I'm just a little freaked out because I don't want to schedule the C-section before she's ready but I don't want to schedule it too late either because then, if she decides to come earlier than we scheduled it, I'm afraid I'll have to go through an Emergency C-section again or something.
I know everything will work itself out in the end but it's just a little frustrating. But, the surgeon that will hopefully be doing my C-section scheduled me for an ultrasound on the 19th to see how our daughter is doing, which I'm very happy about, so maybe we'll get a better idea of when I'm due then. Or maybe we'll just get another due date and still not know how far along I am.

Did you have an early ultrasound for dating purposes? I would personally go by that date.

Same thing here! Mine has been changed from August 10th, to August 18th, back to the first of August, but they're keeping it at the 18th. I know when I conceived, and the 10th is what I had been thinking. My c-section is scheduled for August 15th and I'm just praying we make it. Good luck! I hope everything works out for you.

request for an amniocentesis before you deliver to make sure her lungs are matured. they can't do a c-section unless it's an emergency right? if it's just a repeat cause you've had a c-section before, doesn't mean that it should come down to a c-section automatically.

I've had two ultrasounds done; a normal ultrasound at 16 weeks and a high-risk ultrasound at 17 weeks. They tried to guess my due date with both of them but they both said different dates. The normal ultrasound guessed I was due August 16th and the high-risk guessed I was due around the 23rd.

What date does the first day of your last period give you?

We did an Amnio at 17 weeks because one of my blood tests came back saying that she had a high probibility of having Downs Syndrome (Which was a false possitive!) and the ultrasound tech and doctor said that she, and her lungs, looked perfectly heathy at that point. The ultrasound tech, whom I was very happy and impressed with, even took the time to go over her legs and everything a second time to make sure it all looked good because our son was born with Fibular Hemimelia and Club Feet and she didn't want us worrying about our daughter being born with them to.
I'm the one that decided to have the C-section this time though. My doctor did give me the option of different places I could go to get a VBAC and we discussed it quite a bit but, long story short, I just believe another C-section would be best for our daughter and I in our situation. Thank you for your concern about it though! I appriciate you making sure I knew that a C-section wasn't my only option.

Did they give you a due date based on your amnio?

Now that I think about it, I honestly can't say for sure. The woman at the office where we had the Amnio and the high-risk ultrasound done said that they guessed my due date to be August 23rd but I'm not sure if that's the results of the Amnio, the ultrasound, or both.

I can understand them not wanting you to be over-due, especially with a big baby! But I know it'll all work out, it's just kind of frustrating not knowing. I am glad that she's stayed in this long at least! Our son tried to come 11 weeks early and we got labor stopped (Thank God!) but he ended up being almost 5 weeks early anyway and our little boy was only 5 pounds, 5 ounces. We've been really scared that we could have issues with preterm labor again but it looks like our daughter isn't as impatient to come out as our son was!

They did the same thing to be saying my due date was the 14th and then changed it to the 27th and then back to the 14th and on my 36 wk check up they changed it back to the 27th, they have my c-section for the 20th.
Everything should work out

Sorry, I missed this response! Not sure which date is based on my period though. It started November 6th and ended November 12th.

Always does I'm assuming the surgeon is going to base when we do my C-section on what the utrasound on the 19th says though so, I guess we'll see what happens!
