Endometriosis

posted 9th Jul '12
Can endometriosis be detected with a transvaginal U/S? I was told that they actually have to go in and take a biopsy but my midwife(I still go to her since she's the only one my pap didn't hurt with) thinks I don't have it while my old OB/GYN(who left a few weeks after LO was born) thought I did but before I had LO was too young to actually have the test done since it was invasive.

ETA: I had a the transvaginal U/S because of my cysts a few months back but my cysts were pretty small and wouldn't cause this much pain.

they can suspect it, they suspected mine since i was 12 or 13 but the biopsy is the only way to know for sure thats what it actually is it's normaly laporcopic (however you spell it) surgery & whatever they remoe is sent for the biopsy. 3 small cuts & a laser

That's what I thought. I feel like they're ruling it out without actually looking into it. I know it's invasive but I don't understand why I'm in this much pain. My cramps are getting worse and worse. I can't stretch without my pelvic area feeling like it's being ripped apart. I can't have anything laying on my lap or it feels like it's stabbing me. Idk. I'm just so tired of living like this.

I've been on BC since my first doctor thought I had it. My cycles were long, like 38 days. My periods were a week long with a lot of blood and tons of cramping to the point I missed a lot of school. My hormones were just a mess.

I started BC when I was 13. I'm going to be 21 in 10 days. Only having LO had it go away. Which I actually read that if you're able to get pregnant while you have it, it will help. But now it's back and it's bad. It's like how it was when I was 13. I skipped 2 periods, even being on a lower dose hormone but then when I got it, it was only 2 days but it was a massive amount of blood. The cramps lasted about 2 weeks. I got sick.

My hormone are pretty crazy now too. I'm on a stronger pill now but the pain is getting worse.

I've had it since i was like 14 or so. the only thing that has helped me is birth control or being pregnant, I havent done the procedure yet because its been managable for quite a few years for me.

Do you think that maybe I should get a second opinion? I love my midwife but I don't know if she gets how much pain I'm in. She poked around but I didn't cry or show too much pain. I have a high pain tolerance and I don't really like to show pain.

I am clinically diagnosed with Endo, I've never had a Laparoscopy done. The GYN I was seeing refused since I was 18 and the chance of scar tissue was too high, or at least that's what she told me. I was offered Lupron (sp?), but I refused. I was then put on Yaz, but I went off of it due to horrible heavy bleeding and I passed a blog clot that was nearly the size of my palm. Not to mention the horri le cramping. I was then put on Femcon Fe, which turned me into a sex maniac and extremely emotional. I was given T3's which didn't do a thing for me so I began buying perc's when I couldn't get them from my mother just to manage the pain. My last period before I got pregnant was horrible. The pain was so bad I was puking and crying, I kept saying I just wanted everything taken out of me.

Now, PP, my periods are a walk in the park compared to before. Some times I don't even realize I'm about to start. I'm glad it turned out this way because if it didn't I don't think I would be able to go through that again while taking care of a child.

yeah sounds about the way i did the best thing my doctor found for me before surgery was the jolessa & skipping the sugar pill (to eventually stop my periods all together) & it worked great for years. if you don't need the surgery i wouldn;t recamend it all all it's painful i've heard people compare it to a csection on here. i had the surgery right after i turned 18 but my cramps got so bad i was in bed 3wks out of the month & my doctor didn't see any other option. if your down & out formost of the month the best thing might actually be to have the surgery but DO NOT let them do it alot. my mom had somewhere between 14 & 18 surgerys before they took her overies but hers turned into cancer cells but she said the surgerys made her feel like a genny pig & i've hear it thins your utrus

They suspected that i had it via ultrasound.
They then did laproscopic surgery, found some, & removed it.

I also got pregnant 2 months later.. It makes you very fertile.. ha
