It is possible to have a VBAC. Some doctors don't want to risk it since there's more of a chance of rupturing and it's more of a liability on them. Honestly, if you really want a vaginal birth, research doctor or even midwives in your area that do VBACs. It is possible but it could take some time to find a good doctor to do it.

what was the reason , I can't see why not but It could be your doc's preference? If not happy get a second opinion

First find out what doctors support VBAC and what hosptals support the VBAC and the doctor will tell you your chances based on why u had the csection and go from there and the type of incision. The classical (vertical) you wont get a chance to go vaginally it is the largest risk at uterine rupture. I had a successful VBAC 2 years after my csection for baby heart rate dropping as I contracted and borderline pre-e.

I'm very lucky to have a hospital with doctors in the health system who do VBAC's. They also will only do a c section when it is medical necessary. I had 2 failed inductions, same pregnancy, and I made it known I didn't want a c section until there was a problem. They kept my wish and in between the second and third induction LO came out on his own. They said if the third one failed, they would have done a c section just because it was getting dangerous.

Your family is only pushing for c-section because they don't understand that a repeat c-section is a much higher risk for uterine rupture than a VBAC. If you are at least able to switch to a doctor who is willing to do VBAC in your situation then thats what I would do. I would much rather go vaginally than a repeat c-section.
