parents with preemies...

can someone explain to me what an adjusted age/corrected age really is? and how they figure it. i have a friend of a friend who invited me to her baby shower and her daughter was born at 23 weeks (in feb) and i saw she posted about her correct age, and i can't for the life of me figure out how it is calculated. (she is a little doll btw, she just got to come home a week or so ago.)

My son was born at 28 weeks....their "corrected age" counts from their actual birthday....their "adjusted age" is how old they are "supposed to be'
So my LO was born October 8. So April 8, he was 6 months old...but he should only be 3 months old.
It was used with my LO mostly for developmental reasons. Say a baby should roll over at 6 months. My LO wouldn't roll over until 10 mo (6 mo adjusted age)

makes sense. thank you. i just never have known anyone with a preemie before, so i never knew exactly how age worked.
