In your opinion, is it normal to WANT to have a baby when you're a teenager? I'm not talking about thinking about having children some day...but being a teenager and TTC.

Is that normal?

Secondly, the cause of this...do you think it is due to hormones?

I'm honestly just curious as to how others view this.

My personal view: No, teens TTC and wanting children is not normal. Saying that it is due to their "hormones" is asinine and crazy. IMO the only reason a teenager would want a baby in any general average situation, would have to be because they're lacking some sort of love in their lives. They think the baby can fill the void.

What do you think? Teens TTC, is it normal? And why do you think they TTC...

It's not normal and I think they ar just trying to fill a void.

When I was a teen, I wanted a baby

I am so damn glad that I didn't have one then.
Most girls I know wanted babies as teens. They didn't TTC but they still wanted one

i wanted a baby when i was a teenager, wasn't dumb enough to TTC but i wanted one then bc i thought it would be so much fun to have a cute little baby lol

I think it's a lack of love. In most cases, I think it's daddy issues.

I always wanting a child when I was 16+ but I knew I wasn't responsible enough for it and I wasn't ready for it either.

I found this the other day that was funny because it was true for me.

Well yeah everyone talks about having kids when they're...well throughout their lives I guess...

Thats strange, I never had any friends who would say "I wish I had a baby!!!" or maybe I'm strange  

I was one of the girls who wanted to and got pregnant. I was definitely lacking a lot of things in my life. I basically had no family and wanted to "create" my own. Needless to say that made things a lot more difficult for me in the long run LOL!

I think our modern times, and certain cultures have changed us to stay kids longer than we really need to, or do in other cultures.

Back in the day teenagers were getting married and having kids at 13-18 and no one thought that was horrendous or crazy. It was normal. That could be why some teens have such a strong desire. Because really its normal, just not according to our culture.

That being said, the way our culture teaches our kids to be, and how long kids are allowed to be kids I feel it is definitely NOT okay for teens to TTC. A pregnant teen will more likely than not require the support of her parents...so shes not creating a life for herself...but making her life and her parents life harder.

I was all "I wish I had a baby right now" when I was 15-16

So were most of my friends

Not really teen so much, but I wanted a baby with my hubby when I was 19, but we knew it was sensible to wait, until we were older and married for a while. It was not hormones/lack of love/daddy issues.

Do you mean younger teens? My husband was 19 when we decided to "ttc"(not prevent) another pregnancy.

Not normal. Also, extremely idiotic.

People got married that young because up until the 20th century, most marriages were arranged by parents.

I wanted a baby as a teen. And was it a comment I posted about the girl that is 15 wanting to concieve again after a loss? I posted saying I think its normal for lots of teens wanting babies. Its a phase that some people go through. But I also said its NOT normal for them to even try. 15 year olds shouldnt even be thinking about sex.
