well it depends on what type of defect your child has as to what to expect. i suggest you start looking at hospitals and take a tour of a nicu/picu to get yourself used to all the equipment. some babies require surgery immediatly, and some not for a few months. some require multiple surgeries. it just depends on what defect they have

heres a list of the top 50 hospitals. if your child will require surgery, i highly suggest looking into the top 15 or so. top rated hospitals not only have better surgical outcomes, but bigger support systems, better nursing staff, and better overall treatment, including shorter hospital stays and decreased complications.. they also will have the specialists around if your child would need help in other areas (neuro, endocrine, renal etc). also make sure your hospital has ECHMO, incase complications can arise
