Don't bite back.
"But the child needs to learn that biting hurts," you may reason. Yes, but there's no way your child will decide that she shouldn't bite if you bite. Try this alternative tooth-for-tooth method: Take your child aside and ask her to let you show her how teeth feel on skin. Press your child's forearm against her upper teeth as if she were biting herself, not in an angry revengeful way, but as a parent making a point, "See, biting hurts!" Give this lesson immediately after he bites you or someone else. You want your child to learn to be sensitive to how others feel – an early lesson in empathy.

My almost 3 year old daughter has also started biting again. Could it be because she has a new baby sister?

I read on parents.com that it only teaches them that its okay to bite if you bite back

Ok so i was givin the same advice by my younger, inexperienced sister and ya know what it may actually work. I don't believe that you should teach a child to hit back, or hurt others but in the sense of simply showing them "Ouch this really hurts, do you like this when i do this to you" and i would open my mouth wide and attempt to bite with sharp teeth out really scaring them with my big sharp teeth - but not actually bite her hard just enough to make her feel uncomfortable and I would say things like "bad mommy - biting hurts, see you don't hurt people", then i asked my child "did you like that, do you want to get a bite - then you don't do that to others and with my first child it worked - never bit again. My second one is different and you have to be careful with that - what works for one may not with the other. I have not tried it on my second and don't think i will just because of the message it relates. I don't want her thinking mommy bites too that may lead to her thinking its normal or ok. So each parent for their own. But i believe as they age especially spare the rod spoil the child and that's why alot of new or young moms are raising little devils they are too lazy to do the work that is required in disciplining their children or they are too scared-and weak to be dominant and do whatever it takes- be of good judgement ladies.
