Name stealing Bitch!
posted 11th May
So, my best friend ran into a girl from our neighborhood who is also pregnant... around the same weeks as i am. and a few months ago i told the girl what names i picked out for a girl and a boy.
turns out im having a boy and she is having a girl.
and during my besit's run in with her... he asked her what was the sex and the name...
turns out... she stole the name i mentioned to her. and i know DAYUM well she hasn't heard that name anywhere else...
she even told me... she never heard of it and it was soo pretty.
i think she found out i was having a boys... since im a few weeks ahead of her... and thus took the name because i wasn't "using it"
what a fuckking BITCH? i already couldn't stand her... and now... ahhh man... that is some trifling shit.
i am sooo furious.
i have been stuck on that name for years. it's mine. and yes i was planning to us it when i had a girl.

Well why did you tell her your name choices? You guys obviously wern't good friends or anything. If I didn't want to chance someone stealing my name I wouldn't tell them my choices, especially is they were pregnant too.

it was like a carefree conversation. i didn't think she would actually steal the name. and it was random cuz i actually didnt tell that many people.

Well that sucks, but you can always cling to the hope that A) she will change her mind before the baby gets here or B) that it is born with a penis instead.

who cares, every name is a repeat in this world! Stick with the name you like and don't worry about it!

Only my 2 best friends, my boyfriend, and my dad know my baby's name...I finally picked one and Iwas tired of all the negative feedback I've gotten thus far with every other name I've picked out. So I just haven't told anyone. I feel bad because my mom is one of my best friends...but I can't get it up in me to tell her b/c she's one of the people who've hated every other name I've liked and then I feel yucky about it [I know it's my baby and my choice...but still it bothered me...]
If you like the name, USE IT WHEN YOU GET YOUR LITTLE GIRL! Simple enough. Nobody has a name that nobody else has....people that are looking for that are wasting their time.

Ok so she stole the names you picked out. They weren't your names.
And if you have a girl, just use it anyways, who cares?

i have every right to be angry actually.
quoteposted 11th May
I don't think anyone said you don't have a right to be angry....but whats the point? Its a name....and if she has her girl now and you have yours in a few years, they might not ever even meet! Plus, you or her might move or something and be hundreds of miles away or something.
Its nothing to get too upset about. Every name has been used before.

I know how you feel. One of my best friends just found out she was pregnant. I think she had been trying to get pregnant because right before she found out I had the name Mackenzie picked out and said that I loved it but I didnt want people calling her Mack or Kenny and so what does she do but call her that constantly...to the point I changed her name. I just thought whatever...this way no one else will call her that later on in life anyways. I had also told her that if she was a boy I was going to name her Jacob after my Grandpa...so when she finds out she is pregnant it doesnt take her not even TWO DAYS to say well if its a girl she is going to be Mackenzie and if its a boy he is going to be Jacob!? WTF...name theif...I refuse to change my sons name when/if I have one because thats sentimental. I just thought...you arent even excited enough to look for YOUR OWN NAMES for your child you have to steal MINE. Granted Im not using Mackenzie...but its because of HER and I think she did it on purpose. She wants a boy. I dont care which she has but if its a girl...Im calling her Big Mac.

And just think...Perhaps when people refer to your daughter they'll have to say, "Alaysia...You know, the beautiful one..."

You have a "right" to be angry. But, I think it's silly to exercise that right, personally.
A name cannot be stolen. It is not property, it is not even intellectual property. Chances are, someone else somewhere else in the world also has the name, and thought of it first, to boot.
Kids have the same name sometimes. It's life.

Awww Hun I know the feeling, my SIL did it to me while pregnant with Aimée, they were due a month before us. She had asked me about 3 months before she had her baby what names we had picked out, so we told her, then when the baby was born my MIL called and asked when I was going to go up to the hospital to meet Gaige! WTF!
Needless to say, my SIL and I don't get along that well anymore.
Like I said, I know exactly how you feel and the feeling blows, but try to look past it.
ps, we named our new dog the name that she wanted for a girl

I don't understand getting upset over someone "stealing" the name you'd picked out. Like almost everyone else has said, names are in the common domain - they can't really be stolen. I named my son Matthew for sentimental reasons, not because I thought it was unusual, and if I were to get mad at everyone with a child younger than mine named Matthew, I wouldn't have time to do anything else. My name is also a common one, especially for kids born in the early 80's like me, and especially in this part of Michigan. I don't really get upset over that. There's an old saying that goes something like, "Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery." Just take it as a compliment to your taste in names, and let it go.

it was a bitch move on her part. since my dogs are very VERY well known in the area... i find that hilarious!!!!!!!!!
it would be MORE funny if i named my new puppy my girl name that she stole... since my dogs are more popular than she is... and my puppy will be all over the nieghborhood. in return... she has a child named after MY dog.
enough people already know she is shiesty, and already are familiar with the name... because it was ALSO the name i STAMPED when i was previously pregnant before i miscarried.....
i just find it extremely classless of her to take the name i mentioned, that's all. she's a loser.
i said she "STOLE" it because she admitted to never hearing the name before... therefore i was never a consideration for her child before i told her... and has been for mine for years...
i just think she is a huge bitch for it. she is lame.
