Graduating College

posted 9th Jul '12
Poll is straightforward if you were/are a teen parent please answer accordingly. Just curious. Thanks. If you'd like add when you had your child and what age you graduated with what degree. I'm 19. I got pregnant at 17. Dropped out and got my G.E.D. Had my daughter at 18 and I'm starting my Bachelor's program this Fall.

Got pregnant at 17.

Got my first degree at 27, finishing my M.A. currently and I am 34.

I have almost 4 degrees and I am also working on a professional certificate.

Hm I graduated h.s and then attended a trade school, didnt see that option up there. Being a teen parent made it harder to do it but not impossible. I could go back to a traditional college and seek a degree if I chose to but it just doesnt interest me. Im an aspiring make up artist.

I got pregnant at 16. Dropped out of high school. Received my GED when I was 17.

Graduated with my Associates when I was 19 and I am now currently starting classes for my Bachelors Degree. I'm also a full-time supervisor where I work.

That is wonderful! I love hearing success stories. I read a statistic that less than 2% graduate with a degree under 30. I believe that is what it said anyways. This shocked me! Wanted to see how true it was.

Sorry, I forgot that option. But, that is definitely something to be proud of. I wish I had that talent. I would love to be an artist of some kind. Especially a tattoo artist.

I never graduated high school....

When someone quoted that statistic followed by, "so it doesn't surprise me that you didn't graduate"....that sort of kicked me into high gear.

I'll have my PhD by 40.

i was attending my first year of college when i found out i was pregnant.
i was 2 months away from turning 19.
i couldn't finish my year because i had really bad morning sickness, could not get out of bed and when i felt good and got to school i couldn't get out of my car because i got sick out of nowhere.

i went back after i had my son but i had to pay tuition out of pocket and i couldn't afford it.

now i am currently 23. i started school last january and will be going in the fall.
i plan on becoming a registered nurse so i still have a while since i have to complete all my prerequisites sp? and then wait to get in the program.

When I first started telling people I was pregnant. A relative said, "Well if I didn't think you weren't going to do anything with your life before, I definitely think that now." That motivated me to prove them wrong. I was already doing it for myself and daughter but that was just the kick in the teeth I needed!

I initially was planning on becoming an RN but it grossed me out too much. That is a great field to get into. Good luck and congrats on starting school again.

I have a wonderful support system and I have learned to live off of only a few hours of sleep. I probably drink way more energy drinks than I need to.
