preschool and custody

posted 9th Jul '12
My son has been accepted into pre- k and starts in August. His dad's visitation has been 8 days monthly since February this year. (He lives in Richmond, I live in southwest Virginia.) He is trying to tell me that since we have a court order, he can still keep his current visits and our child will be excused from daycare.

First of all I am pretty sure it isn't true, and secondly, don't you think that he wouldn't want to interefere with that?

Everything I do with our child he tries to sabotage it.

How many days of school would he miss? Preschool isn't mandatory here so it might be true.

Now that the kid is in school, I'd go back to court and get it revisited. You cannot take a child out of school for 8 days a month

get it revised to match school schedule. im sure they didnt expect him to be so far once school started and for the child to not be attending school due to dad wanting to live far away and be a douche.

Apparently he is going to try to fight it I just wanted to know what to do. They obviously aren't going to want a child they accepted into their program missing a week of school every month.

Preschool isnt mandatory. They told me here that it doesnt matter how many days my son misses because its pre-k. My son will be missing quite a few days once this baby is born and its no big deal. I would just ask the school and see what they say.

It isn't mandatory here either. But if a kid misses x number of days, they could lose thier spot and be kicked out

They still have half day where you are interesting lol
They havent had half day here in about 6 years. Its all day everyday for kindergarten. And I love it that way. It got confusing some weeks when my oldest was like that, send her to daycare and forget it was a school day and she would have no lunch lol She went to daycare before and after school lol up till this past year.

Yeah my son has been in full time daycare as well for almost 2 years and he just turned 4. The only reason I put up with half day pre k was because he had a speech delay and he got free speech therapy twice a week for free. In the end he has learned more from daycare than he has from preschool. I dont even know why they call it half day, its 2 measely hours that include snack time and playground time so how much learning time does he really get? Ive been searching like crazy for a full time kindergarten but everything seems to be to far away from where we live.

See her its kindergarten not pr-k we do not have pre-k at all.

My 4 yr old is at a grade 1 learning level and past in some areas cause daycare was just like school lol (I also lesson plan at home) She can read 66 sight words and really she wont be 4 till the 17th lol.

Daycare has brought her to be confident and excellent with her peers she makes friends instantly when somewhere new lol
