I feel like breastfeeding is a crock of smurf

My 4month old is breastfed, my sisters baby is formula fed (he is 5 days younger then my LO).
He hasnt been sick once. My LO has croup(sp?) and she has also had a stomach bug.
He sleeps through the night, my LO is waking up 5 plus times because the breastmilk just isnt keeping her full long.
He is gaining weight good, my LO is slightly under.
She is so sick right now, I feel so bad for her I just want to make her better   im about ready to quit breastfeeding, I feel like its not doing us any good.

and breastfed babies can some time* be under weight but as long as they gaining its fine.

My daughter had croup around that age too, it's no fun!  

Do whatever YOU feel is best.

I know that, I just thought they weren't supposed to get as sick. This is breaking my heart seeing her like this

My daughter has been breast fed since birth, never touched formula. She turned 2 in May and has been sick a million times. Her first week she had a severe cold. She's had RSV and I don't even know what else. Just because babies are less likely to get sick, doesn't mean they won't at all.

I agree with the other post. Bf'ing isn't a guarantee that the babies won't get sick. It just means that they'd get sick more often otherwise or sick worse. Your baby is probably around a lot more other sick kids than your sister's baby too. I remember the daycare days, my son would get sick all of the time. It does get easier later on when they get a bit older (like 3ish) when their immune systems develop a bit more.

None of my babies, all breastfed, were underweight at all.

but I do agree with the other mom, it's not a magic potion, and it is made just for your baby, so it is always best!

I'm sorry to hear. She'll get better, but honestly - formula is a crock of smurf and I only EBF for 6 months. An expensive crock of smurf.

have you ever considered changing your diet? your baby only gets the nutrients your body takes in..

My son was always in the 20-25th percentile for weight while he breastfed.
He was just skinny,but healthy.
