Oh, yay!

I'm 28 weeks pregnant and am on blood pressure medication. I had pre-eclampsia with my first son.
My first appointment with this pregnancy, my blood pressure was just a little elevated. My doctor told me he didn't want to take any chances with this pregnancy so he immediately put me on blood pressure medication.
I haven't had any problems with it so far until yesterday.
I had a headache all day long, I took tylonol once in the morning and once at night (I usually never have to take any).
Also, yesterday I started seeing the white "flashing spots" infront of my eyes.
Well, I took my son to walmart to get a few things and decided to check my blood pressure while I was there, it was slightly elevated (or so my doctor would call it) 133/70.
Today I had a small headache that is gone now, still saw the white "flashing spots" infront of my eyes and noticed when I was outside with my son that my hands, legs and feet are somewhat swollen.
This scares me.
Sorry for going on and on, just wanted to write about what's going on with me.

ive never had issues with my bp not even when pg. usually my bp is 117/70 so far this pregnancy i have had blurred vision and other eye sight issues, bp has been 140/80, 138/78 and ive always had bad migraines but I have had alot more headaches where nothing helps Im wondering if i am getting pre-e. pre pg my wedding band was a size 7 and fit perfect, i just sized it friday up to a 8.25 and if I stand for a hr or so I cant budge the ring, I have to be careful with swelling cause I had CHF and cardiomyopathy when my youngest was 4 days old. But when i last mentioned my vision issues to the dr he didnt seem concerned. i go the 16th so im gonna say something again. As far as the issues with eyes and pregnancy they say that your eyes change during pregnancy thats why my dr wasnt to concerned.

So sorry you're going through this. Have you heard of the Brewer diet? Your pre-e can be treated through nutrition. Good luck with everything! http://www.drbrewerpregnancydiet.com/

Thank you, I do too!! It is very scary to me considering all I went through with my first son. I haven't told him yet, if it continues I will call him. But, I have a Dr. appointment with him on Tuesday so I'm trying to hang on lol!

I know how you feel, im anxious for this pregnancy to get furtur along as my pre-e progressed to eclampsia with my 1st.. Ive been to obstetrician appointments and specialist appointments with this pregnancy (my doctor referred me) and there all going to be keeping on top of me so i dont have to go through it all over again! Im olny 15weeks atm so a wee bit of a wait yet before anything happens with pre-e this time if it does.. my bp with my 1st pregnany got to 187/100... :O
so far with this pregnancy the highest has been 148/90..
I hope you get it sorted out for yours and bubs health..
Put ya feet up and relax but firstly make some more appointments with your doctor so you can get checked out too

It sounds to me like a mild case of it. That's what was happening to me my first pregnancy ontop of having protein in my urine. Mention the swelling as well. With my first, I was constantly being sent to labor and delivery to be monitored due to the BP. The highest it ever got was like 197/98, something like that. Along with protein being in my urine. My doctor freaked out and sent me to be induced that day. However, they got my BP stabalized and decided to induce me the next week. It's just so scary to see some of the same symptoms pop up when I'm already on blood pressure medication. I would hate to know what it would be like if I wasn't taking it.

So so so scary. I DON'T want to EVER go through what I did with my first pregnancy. I will update when I talk to my doctor on tuesday as to what he says! Good luck to you as well! ):

I wish my doc was a little more concerned. My blood pressures lately have been good, but I started the pregnancy with elevated blood pressure and have had migraines very similar to the ones you described on a regular basis starting at about week 28. I asked my doc and he just shrugged it off and said that if the pains got worse to let him know and they'd put me on something for the pain...ugh. I guess you can take it one of two ways- some women just get more migraines when they're pregnant and it could be totally unrelated to Pre-E or just make sure you talk to your doc about it and be glad that they are concerned enough to be watching you. Good luck! I hope things get better.

Whatever you do dont quit taking it lol definetly tell your dr with your history. I know that this is my first baby with myhusband and i read that if you never had it b4 but it being your 1st pg with a different person that your at risk of gettin it. I think my dr forgets that my girls are not my hubbys.

I have had a few friends have migrains and their doctors only gave them medication for it. However, I know of one other girl (one of my friends) that kept having migrains and she had to stay in the hospital overnight due to it being blood pressure related. It's tough to desipher the difference lol! My doctor keeps a close eye on me because of what happened in my first pregnancy. The whole thing was awful. It ended in me having an emergency c-section due to the cord being wrapped around my sons neck and stopping his heartbeat. But, I'm glad your bloodp pressures have been good lately! Hopefully the headaches won't develop into something serious! Thank you and good luck to you as well

LOL I won't quit taking it trust me! That could lead to a heartattack or something lol! I don't need one of those at 20! Both of my children are with my husband. I didn't know that you are at a higher risk if you have a different partner! That's crazy! Discuss it with your doctor, maybe he can come up with a solution

i had read it on some medical site about the diff partner part, and no you definetly dont need a heart attack, I am hoping this time not to have the congestive heart failure and relapse of the cardiomyopathy. im gonna talk to my dr when i go the 16th
