Chicken pox vaccine

posted 8th Jul '12
Do you give it to your children? Why or why not?

I never received it but I had chicken pox at 4 or 5 and I'm trying to do research on vaccines

nope, I dont get it for my daughter. I dont see the point, plus I dont trust new vaccines. We dont do flu shots either. My daughter got chicken pox on her own at 4 yrs old, so we're good now and dont have to get any extra stuff in her body that is unecessary. My idea was to see if she got it by the time she went to kindergarten, and if she didnt I would assess my beliefs on it at that time. but she got it so i dont have to worry.

My two big kids got it. I got it when I was 6/7ish, but it was stupid, I already had the chicken pox, but the school gave them out to everyone unless your parents signed a form saying NOT to give it to you. It was like 89 or 90, they did things weird back then! LOL! My youngest is too young to get it yet.
Mainly I had them get the shot, because we don't know anyone who has the chicken pox to give to my kids!

I will not be giving it to my son. It is a relatively easy virus for children to fight but it can be a lot more harmful and difficult to fight as an adult.

We don't get offered it in England and to be honest I don't see the point in having a vaccine against it. It is dangerous I would rather let my child get it and let that be that !

Good question! There are twelve recommended vaccines and my boys have gotten them all. I just read some information about the importance of this in an article here http://bit.ly/NjUeT5 "What's your perspective on vaccination and immunization safety for babies?" during my time with Focus on the Family. You might also ask your pediatrician. Best to you and your family.
