re: Vaccinations & welfare.

So what if there was an outbreak and the citizens demanded answers and treatment? People are allowed to demand what they want...doesn't mean they'll necessarily be entitled to what they demand. The government will not accept responsibility in the event of a vaccine reaction, why should they accept responsibility for illness?

They are in essence forcing parents to accept medical treatment which includes the risk of brain damage or death, and at the same time they do not accept liability. Vaccinations should be voluntary. Period.

It is not 100% accurate that an unvaccinated person poses no threat to a vaccinated person. In some cases a person can be vaccinated against something and still not build up a resistance and never know. I personally have no resistance to rubella(AKA german measles). I did not find this out until I went to work in the operating room and I was tested for it. Some people can actually have the disease in question and still fail to build an immunity. My youngest sister has had chicken pox 3 or 4 times.

I said I didn't necessarily agree with the stipulations.

If the government or any private organization is offering a service, they are entitled to put any stipulation or requirements they feel they need to. I'm not saying welfare folks deserve less rights, but if you are seeking a service, then the old saying goes, 'beggars can't be choosers'.

Oh, I understand your argument. I just don't agree with it at all.

I see it as a form of discrimination. If they were rejecting someone on the basis of skin color or religion (which this could be viewed as since some people are religiously opposed to vaccination,) I'm guessing that you would not feel the same.

Isn't it true that very few religions are actually against vaccines? I think it is far more common for people to "use" that as their way to get around vaccines when they feel they are unsafe.

Well, the government does not require that you follow a specific religion that opposes vaccination in order to religiously exempt yourself from vaccination. You can have a "vague" religious opposisition and still be religiously exempt.

And I think you're right. I know that Christian Scientists are opposed in their doctrine, and I think there are one or two more examples. Not many.
