If they are socialized properly then yeah they are a loyal breed...but they are used for guard and bit training for a reason lmao. Dobermans are the same...these dogs were all bred to be aggressive but over time the aggression has been bred out of them but you'll still find a group of them that have this instinct still.

lmao haven't came across a smurf headed dobie yet!
Maybe the one you had came from a BBYB and wasn't socialized correctly. You have to get these breeds from reputable breeders or you'll be paying for it hahah.

When I was a child, a girl from my school almost died when a chow turned on her. It tried to eat her alive.

When I was pregnant, I had a border collie/german shepherd mix. She was peeing all over the house, and marking, when I got pregnant. I didn't want to take the chance of her biting my child, so I gave her to a friend with an older child. She has never been around infants. My chocolate lab, and boxer are wonderful with DD. My boxer will get up and walk away when he has had enough, but our chocolate lab just lays there. Juliana plays all over her, and our lab lays there, and sniffs and licks, and rolls over. Jules plays with her paws, noms on her lips and ears, and our big ol' cuddle bug just...loves it. But, if either of our furbabies had shown aggression towards my DD, they would be gone.

You guys definitely need to get rid of the dog - ASAP. I'd be terrified to bring a new baby home with a dog like that around.

Did you even try properly introducing the dog and children, or did you all just move in together and say "Here Daisy, three little people in your territory now."

The dog shoul NOT be put down like another poster said... This dog was probably raised around adults... Not kids... Introducing her to the stresses of kids at her age could make her aggressive. Shes never been around them so they scare her and shes going into instinct mode to defend herself from the unknown... U SHOULD probably get rid of her but make it known she cant tolerate children. Where do u live? I didnt look before i posted! My aunt and uncle lost their dog last month and are looking for an adult dog to adopt.

We didn't think we needed to because she had been to my house and the kids to his house before we moved in together and she didn't seem like she didn't like them. And i didn't introduce them into HER territory, we were all combined into one new territory. Actually Daisy came a couple days later.

Why is such a big doc even inside the house? I'd suggest @ least having the dog outside. And if/when the kids play outside to have the dog tied up. Just for starters. If the dog is still aggressive, then get rid of it.

we live in Arizona. It is WAY too hot and cruel to leave a dog outside

Dogs get nervous... With all the changes... New people.. new kids... New surroundings... Maybe take her to the vet and see if they can help find something for her. Our dog got aggressive when we moved... He was older too... He didnt get aggressive towards us... He just got VERY protective.
