No, I fully understand that with my child being 11 months. My comment was on your contradicting yourself.

I'm not sure how I contradicted myself based on the soul fact that you didnt think my replies were spaced far enough apart time-wise.

What are you like the thread police?

Why are you even in a toddler forum? Do you have one of those amazing babies that are toddlers at 6 months? That's pretty amazing! Walking and talking. I'd be careful advanced babies usually get their terrible twos early! Then you may need one of those horrible leashes, oh noes.

Bwahahaha that's what I was wondering.

I didnt purposely go into the toddler forum- it was on the front page and I commented on it. So that logic doesnt seem very valid either.

The forum didnt pop up. It was on the front page under, "New Parenting Discussions" and no one said I was telling her what to do. AGAIN, with my first comment, I stated that if she felt like she needed one, then she should use one.

Before I had my daughter I thought those leashes were horrible and would ask Why don't they just hold their child's hand? Who's the parent here? Wouldn't it be easier to carry them or teach them? Then I had my daughter and she is my everything she is my world. She is always with me I'm a very protective mother. However I know what I have and my daughter is very hyper active she has been since she she was very small she is very daring she listens and holds my hand but if there is something that grabs her attention she will sometimes slip out of my grasp and run (children have tiny little hands unless you want to crush them and cut off circulation you will have a tight grasp but not that tight) of course I catch her but what if I was a split second too late. I will never forget when as a mother I saw a horrifying story on my local news a family was going to Chuck E Cheese for a birthday party the 2 year old l boy got excited while he was holding his mothers hand walking to the building he pulled away and ran towards the doors, they had parked just a few rows from the entrance, and before she caught him he was hit and killed by a car. The family of the little boy said he slipped his little hand out of hers before she could catch him. I couldn't imagine watching my child get run over right in front of me like that. I don't ever want anything like that to happen so I have a backpack for my daughter with a leash but I have only used it twice in a year since I've had it cause she useally uses a stroller unless for some reason we don't have it with us. Like recently when we went on a trip to visit family in a Phar,TX a city right on the Texas Mexican border when we went to an outdoor market where there was alot of people. I held her hand the whole time with the strap around my wrist for a safetynet when I was buying her a drink and let go of her hand to get out the money she saw something that caught her eye and bolted and the strap attached to my wrist kept her from running away. We live in an ugly world but if she had gotten lost especielly down there close to Mexico anything could have happened the drug wars with the cartels are very bad down there and to help fund them children (even adults) get kidnapped and held for ransom or sold into prostitusion they just have to take them across the border and you'll never see them again. So I take every procaution when we visit down there (we only visit once a year because of the violence there). Lastly I don't care what other people think I know I'm a good mom it would be imature to let other people's opinions of me affect how I raise my daughter. I know the benefits outway the negetives when it comes to using the backpack my daughter will only be a toddler for a short time so I will only have to use it for a short time. However, I'de rather use it than lose her it's as simple as that. I know not everyone's surroundings are not the same, as well as differences in peoples kids and priorities, so to each their own. But everyone always says "Well my child will NEVER do that! I'm going to teach them BETTER!" and ok your child may not do that but they don't piss sunshine and poop rainbows despite most mom's opinions no kid is perfect and that is a naive way of thinking before you've walked in the shoes of the other parents who need them. Also never say never when it comes to your kids, God forbid you try teaching a one year old that if they let go of your hand they could get kidnapped or hurt and for some odd reason they don't retain that information like you programed them to in the manual that came with your baby; you wouldn't want to base your decision about something as important on your child's safety on your pride after making such a big fuss about it on a baby-gaga discussion thread. But like I said earlier to each their own, please everyone try to keep your kids close and be aware of your surroundings cause I hope nothing ever happens to anyone's kids leash wearers or not I hope their all stay safe and sound.
