I hope your friend is OK. If she truly does have TSS, I hope they can treat her and get her healthy again in no time!

To the woman who's friend died of TSS from wiping a cut with toilet paper: How exactly does that cause TSS??  
I just did that 2 days ago.. Knicked myself bad enough for it to bleed a good bit, so I stuck a piece of toilet paper on it til it stopped bleeding. I would have never thought that doing that could be dangerous.

I hope she's okay! And I did that once, but it was only a day. When you bleed 25 days a month you can get a little absentminded forgetting using tampons and pads. I felt like I had the flu and once I took it out I was okay, but I did feel a little icky. Not sure if it was really TSS or just me being icky anyways.

it was more then likely the tampon. thats how it started with me, felt like i had a bad cold coming on . then it got bad super quick. >< i dont use them anymore. id much rather deal with pads.

Since I am bleeding so much I don't use tampons. If I do it's only because of an outfit I am wearing (super rare) or swimming.

When I had my polyps I was using them so often it hurt to put them in and out. So yeah, pads it is. It sucks buying so many pads but eh, I have to do it!

This has totally just confirmed that I'm using the diva cup once baby is born lol!

I used the Instead cups and loved them... I just stopped using them because I bleed too much and it's just easier to wear pads.

Well TSS is a form of bacteria that lives on your skin. A small cut is all that is needed for it to enter your blood stream. I don't think it was the actual cotton that caused it but instead it was the fact that she didn't treat the cut after it happened. I bought some cream for shaving nicks after it happened. Just a very sad situation.

She is ok. Doctor did a pelvic exam, and said everything looked and smelled fine. Thanks for everyones concern

did they take blood? doin a pelvic exam isnt going to be enough.. she could have the toxins in her system
