cervical pain... help?!?!
posted 5th Jul '12
I'm almost 28 weeks pregnant. My belly has been tightening on and off a lot lately, which I've kinda brushed off by assuming that these are braxton hicks contractions. However, lately ive been getting a lot of cervical pressure. It's not exactly painful, but it sure doesn't feel good. In fact, its extremely uncomfortable.. to the point that I'm very irratable from being unable to relax. The only thing that seems to help is if I apply a small amount of pressure down there. I know that sounds weird, and I definately shouldn't be putting my fingers inside myself, but I was desperate for some relief and so I tried applying some pressure anyways. I noticed that my cervix is extremely soft and feels very low. And applying pressure didn't really help much.
I haven't had intercoarse, nor have I been to my doctor lately for an internal exam so I'm not sure what's causing these feelings, but I feel kind of uneasy about the whole situation...
I know most of you are going to tell me to check with my o.b... but I wanted to get some opinions before I become labelled as the 'paranoid pregnant lady' at my doctor's office.
So are these symptoms/feelings normal at this stage in pregnancy. Or do you think maybe it could be something to be concerned about?

Id rather call a doc and be paranoid about them labeling me than thinking its nothing and something be wrong. Just call the nurses line

I probably should add that the cervical pain/pressure feels almost like I'm being pinched down there...

I get that now at 18 weeks. I have an incompetent cervix so anything that happens down there I get paranoid about mine didn't really have an answer for me since I haven't been shortening or dialating yet. They tell me to drink water and get off my feet, which usually does the trick. Propping up your bum to get the baby off your cervix might take even more weight off it. I'd still call the dr though, always better safe than sorry!
