I did it and experience was fine.... as fine as an abortion could be. I don't regret it at all. The pills were smallish round ones you put inbetween your gums and lip and let dissolve.

I took the pills, within about 3 hours of taking the second set I started cramping and bleeding. Had some large clots and a fair amount of pain and was REALLY hot... but was able to go black friday shopping the next day. I just had to keep changing a pad and taking meds. It wasn't "bad" by any means.

I know of an abortion support message board if you want a more targeted board to help you. I no longer post there but it helped me when I needed it. I won't publicly post it, but if you or anyone else needs the link PM me. I just don't want other people to flame the board (though the board takes SUPER great care of making sure people don't flame).

I've heard of it before, I'm not sure how it works or anything but I bet if you went on planned parenthood website it might mention it? Or google it?

Well i am just curious which one would be a better choice honestly. the procedure or the pill, either way i know it's going to suck.

the pill you can do earlier.... if you want to just be done with the whole experience, that might make sense.

theres usually less bleeding with the procedure.

its personal preference, i had the pill and i would never consider the surgical. i got to take it at home, in my own privacy and comfort, and the surgical seems so traumatic and invasive. after the initial passing it was just like a heavy period. if you were farther along, afraid of what you might see, or "just want it over with" the surgical might be right for you. the pill might not work and you will have to get the surgical anyway, i think its like 6% failure rate or something...the doctors or nurses can tell you all about that.
for the pill you take one in the office that actually terminates the pregnancy, they have to watch you do that. the other pills you take the next day and they are to start contractions, they gave me four. they taste like really bitter chalk. you keep them between your gum and lip until dissolved or a half hour goes by, which ever comes first.
a few hours later you will start bleeding and passing tissue.
i took it at 6 weeks and i saw a sac, nothing too definitive. if you didnt want to see anything best get the surgical.
I also got very sick after that, everything in my digestive tract seemed to get flooded out at once, i felt very week and tired after that too, kinda like having the flu but it was gone the next day and i slept through most of it.
they give you pain meds and antibiotics. the antibiotics made me sick...

even after all that, i would still suggest the pill. some people just want it over with though...
best of luck though, either way

youre going to want/need help taking care of her for a day or two after, no matter which one you do.

I was fine taking care of my daughter. I think the worst was the damn hot flashes (you need to watch your fever). But otherwise, I felt okay. I never threw up either, some do but you can take anti nausea medication for your tummy.

listen... dont lie to yourself. either way, it sucks, at least a little bit, for everyone. being scared makes sense, its a big decision. that doesnt make it the right decision or the wrong one (being scary), only you know if its right for you- sounds like you know it is right. so just keep telling yourself, no matter what, on the other side of the termination, you will be ok.

maybe start with these questions:

how quickly do you want to be done with the pregnancy?

does your insurance cover one process more than the other?

how worried are you about side effects?

it sounds like, at least you know that youre worried about side effects (hot flashes, puking, bleeding, etc). theres a much lower frequency of those things with the surgical procedure.

Please hun... don't be scared. I said this made me horrible, but after all was said and done I talked to my SO and said "I can see why people choose that route, as bad as I thought I felt it wasn't that bad."

Take your pain meds. Get in front of the pain, and take ibuprofen. It helps fever too. Get a big cold pack for your head. I would say the hot flashes were the worst the first oh... 12-16 hours after starting to bleed? It's that first little hump that you feel like crap, but then you look back and it's not that bad. You are about as far along as I was... it's worse as you go on. Get some comfort food that isnt too greasy because your tummy might be icky. I had my SO get me a Sonic grilled cheese, lol. But that comforted me.

But as I said, in hindsight it's that small hump where you feel the worst. If you take it where you start your bleeding and true yuckyness at night hopefully you can sleep through a lot of it. Lay down towels and double up on pads. I bleed heavy anyways so I have to do that for periods, but practically make your undies a diaper.. lay one pad up toward the beginning of your undies and one up toward the back so you dont leak, then wear older clothes so if you do leak its not that bad. And towels down on the bed, as I said. DO NOT use tampons. You don't want to use those.

If you want a name to a message board where more people can help you with their experiences let me know, I just wont post it here. There is lots of information on that board too about how others felt about their experience.

Some people feel yucky, some great, but most take the pill because you do bounce back so much quicker.
