Wow, my mother is all those things, or at least tries to be... except #6, although she thinks she's a genius in her narcissistic mind, lol!

Anyway, I've got some crazies in my family, only on my mother's side, including my mother, & for that reason I walked away a few years ago & my children will never know her if I have anything to say/do about it! She was a malignant narcissist with other psychological issues & I'm not talking about the kinds to where people can't control the choices they make. She knew and would go out of her way to be emotionally damaging & abusive, then turn around in public & act like we had this perfect family home life & lie trying to make others jealous. It was a lot more & deeper than that, but that's kind of a summary of it. And I wouldn't necessarily have an issue with having contact with other family members from her side, but she was so crazy that even other family members didn't want to deal with her so I never really knew them.

Anyway, in a sense I "get it" about her man, especially wanting to protect & keep his kids away from his family that put him through so much that he might be trying to avoid his kids having to experience any of that or know that he had a hard life growing up because he wants to move on with his life to bigger/better things. That part I get. But there are other parts still not making sense, and I just hope one day you and him are able to connect all the dots and are able to be open & honest with each other.   wish OP the best

Not that it would even matter to you as to why I mentioned what I did about his job (seeing as how "that difference (doesn't) even matter"...

I mentioned about his job because if she doesn't know about his past, then she should at least know about the present she has with him & it involves his job, which she clearly doesn't fully understand. He should have nothing to hide about his job & therefore if she is enlightened that she might not know everything or have a full understanding of his job & the skills/duties it requires, then maybe she can start asking some questions about that at least. She should feel no guilt about talking about his work and that might help open him up to other questions she has.

I was thinking Architectural Engineer, & that she doesn't quite understand about when he's Onsite, & know that some those in particular do go Sticking their Hand into it, Often Smurfing up their Own Work in the process, with the Poor Trades taking the Brunt of it!

But all that would still require extra training & Schooling. Where'd he do that? Valid question, for if his Daughter wants to go to school to be like him, Why or why does he not have school pride?

I have stopped asking. I was told if I'm happy then let it go and I kind of have letting it go for the time being.
