My number one pet peeve right now is everyone lecturing me about how hard this is going to be; and that I just don't seem to care that this is going to be difficult.
Hello; most first time mommys don't know how hard it is; regardless of age. All first time moms have difficulty, and although everyone warned them it would be hard; they were still excited. So why; as a 17 year old, am I not allowed to be excited as well? I graduated high school, I have my cosmetology license, and am looking for a job. No, I'm not married, or out of my 'teen years'
And no, the pregnancy was not planned, but it happened, and I'm going to keep the baby, and raise it the best I can, and be the best mom I can.
Everyone looks at me like some idiot when I'm not ashamed to tell them I pregnant. They get this pitiful look, and shake their heads as they walk away, or wish me luck. A select few have said congratulations to me. So because I'm not older or married I can't be happy about the pregnancy? Why would I be sad about it? I refuse to regret this.
Financially, this will be hard. Emotionally and physically, this will be hard. It will be hard on my relationship with my boyfriend. It will take its toll.
I don't know everything thats in store for me, but does any new mommy?

I dont think anyone realizes how hard its going to be, which is probably why people who've been there feel the need to rub that in peoples faces especially when they're young. Sometimes its rude, sometimes its unneeded and bothered me too until I just let it roll of my back.

Dont let anyone label you as a 'teen' mother, do your best so that all youll ever be is an 'amazing' mother. Congratulations, by the way, as much work as it is its very rewarding!

No but the people telling you how hard it's going to be probably know how difficult it is. You will understand what they're saying when you experience it for a few years.

Just do your best and that's all that should matter. Unfortunately that reaction comes with choosing to have a child as a teenager.

No first time mother knows exactly what it is like or how difficult/challening at times it is. It's hard work. But you also have to understand that it's going to make your life so much harder, especially since you are so young. For me when my cousin's, in laws or who ever are young and they get pregnant. I don't judge, but it makes me sad because I know how much harder it will be for you because of the things you will have to sacrifice because of your age.

congrats then ,
i was 17 when i fell pregnant too , yea i hear you chick it's almost as if they are saying "oh i feel sorry for you " almost telling you they expect you to fail .
but you do have the right attitude there is no reason why you wont make a great mum with a happy successful life . Yup will be hard at times I promise you that.
The reason people often" feel "for young mothers is because they know how trying it can be no matter your age or situation , At 17 I thought I knew everything !! It's a big wake up call being responsible for another life when every decision you make will effect the life of the one person you care most about .
Good luck all the best .xo

Absolutely no offense, but I think that's the kind of the thing she's talking about.

Well it is the truth. I had my first at 17 and I thought the exact same things she did. Now that I'm older I completely understand what everyone was talking about. Of course it's harder when you're younger and not established yet. I didn't mean it in a rude way.

Exactly. Maybe she shouldn't get so offended by the simple truth & ignore the rude comments

You aren't licensed under 18. Hush.

Besides that, ignore them. If you're so well off, who cares?

People said the same smurf to me, I brushed it off. I love it, hard times and all. You should just smile and nod.

Good for you! Smurf what people say..you will go nowhere fast if that's constantly bothering you. You finished school, that's awesome...I don't see how having kids is 'hard' I have four going on 5 and the only thing that can get hard is finances. Don't listen to those people, they can't handle them sounds like
