I don't think its right for a child to be in a jail..but that's my opinion. Now I don't think she will be upset for you doing it though, when you explain to her when she's older she will probably understand why you did or did not do so. If he will be getting out in 4 years, she will not be thinking along the lines of feeling different or bad at the age of 4..I. wouldn't necessarily say 'your dad is in jail' at such a young age because a 4 yr old will have questions..maybe say, 'your dad is away and will be back soon' if you're planning on telling the child that he/she has a dad right away.

Well that was my first thought. I'd never take a newborn there.. I told him if I take her at all, ever, it would be when I'm ready. And I mean, I've seen where it would be, and it's not like I pictured. Its very clean, quiet, secure and private.. but still... its just everything about it. I'm not sure about anything..

Do you think he is going to be around regularly after getting out ?

& no I would not take an infant to visit in prison.

you are right no first time parent is not a little anxious and not know what to expect no matter how many books, classes, ect you will never know til that baby is born.
Being a young mom can be a harder for some.
But age does not define a mother.
Keep your head up and try to not worry about the negativity and judgement that will be sent your way.

Quoting ☮Sugar Magnolia:" You aren't licensed under 18. Hush. Besides that, ignore them. If you're so well off, who cares? People ... [snip!] ... who cares? People said the same smurf to me, I brushed it off. I love it, hard times and all. You should just smile and nod. "
Actually I am licensed. I went to school for two years and went to state board and took my test and received my license with the rest of my class- Cosmetology was offered as a career tech program at my high school, and we had the option to sign up for it, and with the right grades we got in. We had to pay a fee for the schooling of course, but please, do not tell me to 'hush' after I worked my ass off for this, and it's something I'm damn proud of.

Ohio you only have to be 16 to start schooling; therefore you don't have to be 18 to receive your license. Not every state has the same laws.

Again; why would I lie. That's just stupid. I put that part in because it's something I'm proud of and worked damn hard for.

Generally though, if you didn't attend a tech hs you have to be 18 to obtain a liscence in any state.
Cool though. I'm happy for you. Are you going to continue your education?
What do you plan on doing since you're certified?

My bad OP, I've never heard of tech programs or whatever. I guess we just don't have those around here. Well, that's awesome. It'll make decent money if you get hired in a salon soon, much better than a min wage job.

I'm trying to find a job in a salon, I'm really trying to avoid working in a chain salon, like great clips or famous hair, but right now that seems to be my best option
