No, no I know you didn't mean it to be rude! You're right. I just think she's sick of hearing things like that, and to a certain degree, I can't blame her.
OP, Most times, no one means to discourage you, or talk down to you in a condescending way, and they usually just want the best for you and want you to be as realistic with yourself as possible. That's all. You ARE allowed to be excited. I won't be a teen mom, but I will be a young mom and I feel the same way. I know it's going to be hard - motherhood is hard period, but I also know that I don't know how hard it's going to be, if that makes sense? I couldn't imagine doing it at 17, and those who have been through it aren't trying to discourage you or make you feel bad, they're just being real. BUT, I know sometimes constantly hearing the negative can get old when it's already gone through your head a zillion times.

I don't get why people lie so much, especially with such common information on a public forum. Did she really think there would be NO cosmetologists or at least people familiar with the laws?

No one would have been mean to her if she left that part out. She's 17, she's not expected to have a career yet.
I'm 19 and don't, as most 19 year olds don't.

I'm really not trying to be nasty or come off in a bitchy way at all, I swear.. but you really don't think having a child(ren) is hard? It's not hard to raise, shape, and mold a human being to be as good of a person as they can possibly be?   I'm sorry, I'm not sure I understand that..

Yeah it's not a pissing contest. At 17, all that matters is that you're doing your best to prepare for a future. You don't have to try to prove everyone wrong.

Exactly. That's the only smurf that pisses me off.
A fifteen year old the other day said she could legally drive and had a high paying job and smurf.
If you lie on here, the only safe place to ask advice without feeling like a dipsmurf pretty much, you're smurfing up the whole advice train because people will always think you're bullsmurffing.

those ones always make me giggle just because it's SO common.
I don't understand why young moms especially feel the need to "prove" themselves. I mean yeah it sucks that people's judgement is part of being a teen parent, but ultimately you will always be judged by SOMEONE no matter how old you are. Sometimes people just suck. If you know you're doing the best you can in your situation, why make up some bs story when it's obviously not true...
We're just here to help you. Not throw rocks at you and call you stupid.

I hear you.
I just think about everything under the sun to the point where I know I'm just freaking myself out. I only have one and she's not even here yet and I already feel like I have the weight of the world on my shoulders :/

Exactly.
And if someone's a bitch for NO reason, someone will stick up for you. We're not all just terrible smurfs 24/7

I'm a young mom. 18 when I got pregnant, barely 19 when I had DD.
I live with my mom, I'm on WIC and Medicaid, and I've recently went through a great portion of my savings which requires me to ask my mom for help sometimes too. SO pays her back and stuff, but she still helps.
I don't have a job because my mom doesn't want me to until after we go to DD's surgery consultation so I won't get fired if I have to take a few weeks off with her because I didn't warn them it was going to happen.

I'm not ashamed. I do the best I can for myself and my child. She's always provided for, I take care of her and love her to bits.
I wasn't prepared to be a mom when I became pregnant, so I had to prepare after already becoming pregnant. It's part of unplanned pregnancies, someone can and will relate to you if you're honest and open about your situation.

It's easier when they're here, kind of.

I mean, it's hard work. You'll be sleep deprived. But it's so worth it, that a lot of moms rarely think about how hard it is, you just do it because you have to and you want to.

That's perfectly understandable. If you show her a good person by being one, she will turn out fine. You are your childs biggest role model..
I do the same thing, and my husband is like..calm down ha

I mean... I think about things that aren't presenting themselves to be issues yet. Her dad is jail.. probably going to prison and may very well be there for up to 4 years and I can't stop thinking about whether or not I should even take her to visit him other than one time so he can at least see her. I'm not sure it's right to expose a small child to a parent in jail. I think about how I'm going to explain what jail is or why he's even there. I don't want to smurf her up.. I don't want her to resent me someday for exposing her to dysfunction at such an early age. I don't want her to think it's normal to have a parent in jail and that it's okay, that it's acceptable. I don't want her to think she's different or bad, either because her daddy is in jail. NOT to mention how I am going to support both of us by myself while he's gone.
SEE? Lol that's just a sliver of whats on mind constantly. UGH. I'm hoping when she's here, it will all make sense and I'll just.. know... whats right?
Lol sorry for the impromptu rant / vent.

I'd never take my child to a prison, but it's a personal decision.

I'd wait a few months before doing so if I were you, germs and such are no good for newborns.
