NEED HELP WITH MEDICAL-MEDICAID ISSUE!! Please help

posted 10th May
Hi Mamaz!
I live in CA so out here Medi-caid is called Medi-cal but I have a serious issue I need help with for all you that knew Medi-cal or that had it. Please help me!!
When I applied for Medi-cal I qualified because I wasn't working (I still am not) and didnt have the income, when they asked me who the father was I told them I didn't know. Well I do know I just heard you should't tell them because then they go after the dad for $ and stuff. So the problem is that I of coure want my boyfriend on the birth certificate but I already told them I don't know who the dad is. So what do I do now? Some people are sayin just to call my social worker and tell them I calculated when I conceived and I figured out who the dad is, but then they will want all his info (pay stubs etc) and I'm worried we may not qualify then, and I need to make sure my baby is covered. And I can't just put him on the birth certificate because then it will look like I lied and I knew all along.. ahh I'm so stressed. Has anyone else has this issue or know what my best route is????
I would appreciate any help!! Thanks ladies!!

if you don't live together then he won't be on your case, they'll most likely go after him for child support. I'm not sure on that though. As for telling them who the father is I would do what your friend said. Even with my ex's income I got medicad, we are recently no longer together so he's no longer on my case. I believe the limit for cut off is very high.

the limit for cut off for a family of 3(you, unborn, and father) is $2,767

The monthly income must be AT or BELOW 200% of the Federal Poverty Level (FPL). See Chart below for further details.
To be eligible for the program, the family's monthly income after child care and working expenses must be AT or BELOW the income limit specified for the family size. For example, for a family size of two, the family's monthly income must be at or below the income limit of $2,200.

yeah he'll be on your case, but I'm not sure if it'll affect your medi-cal case. My ex just moved out a couple weeks ago and when I told my case worker she said it didn't affect my medicad case. So I'm not sure how it goes where you live or here for that matter cause I thought his income was included. Now if you where getting food stamps they would for sure include his income.

does that list include Food Stamps? or is there a different one. I want to know if I'm for sure eligable for them (I'm pretty sure I am) and about how much I'll be getting. It's me, my son and my unborn child. Or if you have the website where you got that from.

If your boyfriend isn't living with you, and they think he is not supporting you, then they will go after him. If his income is what they're going by, then he is safe, because he is the one taking care of you and the baby.

Another thing...when I had it, I was not working and neither was my husband because he got layed off...but they constantly hounded me with questions about how we were paying our bills and how we were surviving and they almost denied us for not having enough income because they assume you are lying and stashing money somewhere. We had to prove we had some money in savings and that was what we were living off of. As soon as my husband got a job though(making a whole $300 dollars per month over the limit)they dropped us like a hot potato. The good news is that we qualified for AIM(access for infants and mothers) which is another california program..if you need info on it let me know...it is pretty cool.

I live in cali and just applied two weeks ago. if you guys arent married they CAN NOT combine your incomes. i just told them we dont live together...we do, but i asked my worker what'll happen if he moves in, like will the incomes get put together, and she said no, it wont affect it till the babys 1 yr.
