Quoting MelanieRae: I ate medium rare (isn't that still pink inside?) when I was pregnant...you can even eat ground beef raw and be ok.....but I wouldn't, its just grossI don't know...if we can get salmanella (sp?) poisoning then our babies definitely could inside of us. They're still growing and have no immune system. If something would make us sick can you imagine what it would do to them??? You can't just eat anything, prime example: many types of fish because of mercury. That's just how I think of it, they can't yet fight off things that our body's can handle fairly well. And I'm definitely not taking any risks.
Quoting Mrs Verdu: They say you are not supposed to eat packaged lunchmeat due to the danger of listeriosis contamination ... [snip!] ... contamination which can harm your unborn child, but if you HEAT the lunchmeat to hot before you eat it, it should be fine.OMG, I had no idea......I eat a sandwich like everyday! I have had my share of hot dogs too but I like to overcook those anyways. I am worried now.......why is this my thrid child and I have never heard this?? I'll be heating it from now on!
Quoting Beth [due in December]: I've heard that you can't eat lunch meat when you're pregnant and my mom says that she doesnt agree with ... [snip!] ... a paranoid first time mom, has anyone else heard this??? Annnnd what are other things that I should definitely be avoiding?
Quoting apres.toi: Haha lunch meat...I have heard this too but honestly if you buy lunch meat that isn't past the expiration ... [snip!] ... hardcore against everything with me being the first child and it being the 80's). To me the key to everything is moderation.I just caled my mom and asked her and she thinks I am a nut. I am sure my baby will be fine. She was like, shoot my mom drank whens he was pregnant with us and we turned out o.k! I guess people do a lot worse than have a ham sandwich. I'll stop worrying now!
