Brestfeeding....bottlefeeding...family...

So, I know what i choose is my decision not anyone elses but, my family (both the In-laws and my parents) are weirded out about breastfeeding. and do like it at all...and i quote from my Mother-in-law "NONE OF MY GRANDCHILDREN WILL BE BREASTFED!!" Well lately I've been thinking i want to breastfeed, but how do i tell them? I dont know who to go abouts it.

I have the opp problem. I want to bottle feed but I'm getting pushed into breastfeeding. In the long run its up to you and whatever you decide.

I would just tell them flat out. You want to do what's best for your baby.

Though, I'm sure that's easier said than done.

Tell them to piss off and mind their own business ... them being negative will make it harder on you , you NEED support to do it and succeed.

Get some articles about breastfeeding, send them to them in email or whatever , tell them it's what you have decided to do , tell them its free , always available etc .

and again if they give you a hard time tell them to piss off.

If my mother in law told me that NONE of her grandchildren would be breastfed, I would be even more determined to breastfeed to piss her off.

Well my MIL (i think thats the abr for that.) is completely against it like when i said all the extra stuff it has in it she said that is was bull. like omgosh against it.

It comes down to what you want to do. It is your baby you do what you feel is right for your family (you, baby and hubby). My sisters also felt the same way your family does and they both bottle feed their kids. I told them "this is best for my family. She is my baby andI will do what I want. Please keep your commets to your self."

If you want to breast feed do it.

Dont even tell them you are breastfeeding, Its none of their business if you do or dont. Your MIL has no right to tell you that! Like my MIL was against me having me son in a non catholic hospital. Just to piss her of more I told her I give birth where ever I wanted and he was going to grow up worshiping (sp?) satan   That shut her up for a while

Do what I did...fudge and say, "it's what the pediatrician strongly recommended, and I'm going to follow his/her advice." That might shut em up!

Just tell them. It is not their decision. If they arent happy about it, they will get over it. My mom is against breastfeeding and she would bug me all the time about it, well guess what? My son is almost 13 months old and Im still breastfeeding. Its whats best for him and Im soooo happy I ignored all her comments.
